The location and the price of this hotel can not be beat! It's location on Russell Square puts it a couple of blocks from the British Museum, around the block from a Tube station and just in front of a decent pub, The Friend at Hand. The family that owns the Celtic originally owned the St. Margaret Hotel around the... More

I've stayed twice- Spring, 2011 and 2012- and love the location in Russell Square, and the price can't be beat. This is a relatively small hotel and it has a personal feel to it. The decor is worn in places, maybe everything doesn't match exactly, but it is comfortable and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The doors are all... More

The best part of this hotel is the location. It's in central London and less than 5 min walk from Russell Square tube station. Rooms are very small (especially a room we had with an ensuite and a twin bed shared between 2 people) and the hotel is aged, but everything was very clean. If your focus is on sightseeing... More

Great location, near to everything, good cleaning, friendly staff, tasty and plenty breakfast. Only disturbances were scaffolding on the front of the buidling (April 2013) and noisy traffic in the street. I stayed on the first floor with windows facing the street and for those sensitive to noise I would definitely recommend asking for a room towards the garden. Would... More

Small clean rooms. Great showers. Have stayed in both en suite and other rooms. Lots of tasty options for breakfast. Very secure. Two lounges or living room common areas which is helpful for room to spread out w a paper or have some separation from travel companions for a bit. Free book exchange Have stayed many times + family and... More

We stayed here when we dropped off our daughter at Kings College. The hotel is near Russell Square station and you can get to the airport using the underground system cheaply if you don't mind lugging your suitcase over stairs. The rooms are very simple not at all fancy, but very clean and tidy. The common bathrooms are kept spotless,... More

I stayed here with my husband as it was within walking distance to the University of London where I signed up for a weekend course. The location was fantastic. It is behind Russell Square station, which is along the Piccadilly line (goes to Heathrow airport). There is a Tesco Express when you exit the station and The Brunswick is very... More

I booked at the Celtic for my family during their visit to London last weekend and they were really pleased with it. It's one of the cheapest places you'll find around Russell Square and it is actually very good. The rooms albeit small (they did go for the small option when booking; please note that the hotel actually offers a... More

Stayed overnight here .Very clean, warm and quite quiet. breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. the rooms are basic but have a TV . Only downside was I was in a room with shared facilities and had a one flight journey to the Loo and a two flight trip for the shower. I will certainly use this... More

We spent one night at the Celtic and it is a great place to stay. The rooms are quite basic but the hotel is clean, the staff very friendly and the English breakfast excellent. Besides it is an ideal location. The rooms we had overlooked the back and they were really quiet.
