Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have stayed in Firmdale Hotels and been in their restaurants in London and New York. It's been a while since I had lunch at The Charlotte Street Hotel here in London. It's really perfection -- the staff, service, food, everything -- right down to the china, which Kit Kemp designed. I had the most marvelous fluffy cheese croquettes as a starter, a perfect risotto as a main, and a dessert of bread and butter pudding with the most insanely fabulous toffee sauce ever! I highly recommend this gem of a hotel and restaurant located in such a central spot.

Me and my family (of adult children with partners but no kids) stayed at this hotel over new year 23/24. We just loved the interior and the whole atmosphere of the hotel. A part from the « all day decorations » you really felt Christmas. It was cosy and nice. Staff was very friendly and professional. Always helpful to give advice about theatres, museums, and restaurants etc. We had two standard rooms with queen beds for the children with partners. These rooms were quite small but it was not a bother for any of our children. The building itself is so pittoresque that they didn’t really think about the room size. It’s kind of a part of the charm,,, My husband and I had a beautiful room (#200) with a nice view of the street below, which was very calm and quite during our stay. We did not include breakfast in our stay, but the positive thing is that we could go into the restaurant and only order a coffee and croissant. This was very appreciated as we are not big breakfast fans. A part from that the hotel is very well situated in the centre of London with short walking distances to Soho and nearby districts. We walked next to everywhere and never felt insecure at any time of the day/night. We will for sure stay there again and I can but recommend it to friends and people reading this comment. If there was one thing missing, for me, it was just a coffee machine in the room. But that was really not a big deal and to be honest I didn’t even ask if I could have one during our stay. A big thanks to all the nice staff and direction.

We love this hotel. It is quirky and unusual but beautifully located and the decor is interesting and trendy. The rooms are beautifully appointed and really quiet which is not a given for a hotel in London, even an expensive one. The bar is buzzing and you Probably need to book a place if you want to drink cocktails there. Breakfast is excellent. Overall probably our favourite London Hotel though it is getting very expensive now.

Fabulous restaurant. Food was amazing, ambience great and staff were lovely and friendly. Adam created the most fab cocktails which were fantastic and Salman was professional and so friendly serving us. Highly recommend Mowgali, definitely on par or better than Dishoom

Beautiful surroundings and lovely front of house staff who make the best americano coffee I have ever tasted. I was so looking forward to eating my egg benedict. Such a shame the kitchen staff don’t know how to poach an egg. Solid to the point I wondered if it was hard boiled. Let the whole experience down for me.

I go here to meet clients over lunch and I must say the place gives me tingles. The design is remarkable and the cocktails to die for. I stayed here recently and just love the mixed fabrics and colours. I will see you next week when im back in London

Stayed here with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. We had a beautiful ungraded room which was very comfortable and clean! The bar was the perfect place for drinks and nibbles with friends before the theatre! On our return the hotel had organised champagne in our room! The hotel is in a great location, but above all I’d like to thank all the fabulous staff who were so friendly and helpful, and really made our stay special! Hopefully see you all again soon!

This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful rooms, but they seem to have sold out the restaurant to the Corporate crowd on business expenses! Bar / restaurant is very busy, with non residents which is a detracting feature. Service does suffer.

Just nipped in when we were exploring London - a very original but tasty cocktail menu and a great range of snacks. I had smoked cod roe with rye crackers on radicchio alongside my Tomatini Sour - gin, lemon, bitters and a caramalised tomato. Never seen this on a menu before but it was truly delicious and really refreshing. The service was good, the venue was really busy and had a really good ambiance - you could be dressed up or walk in off the street and it worked both ways.
