I was there for 2 nights and I have two big negatives points to share: dirty place and breakfast! The bed is very small! You need pay for your wifi! This' s insane! :( The showers are so old, was a miracle find a hot shower and I don't recomend this hostel if you're alone! The positive point is the... More

I stayed in a private room, room 209! Very good atmosphere, cool set up around the building, friendly staff and its in a great location, within 5 minutes waking distance to Russel Square tube station and Kings Cross station. The breakfast was pretty poor, it's given to you in a bag and it had a yoghurt, orange juice, a cereal... More

I stayed for 5 nights in mid-March and paid for a private twin room. The good: location, hot showers and free wifi (in lobby only). The bad: shabby room, heat dial was broken, the place was overrun with hoardes of shrieking teenagers shrieking, pulling fire alarms all hours of the night, crying drunkenly and vomiting in the bathrooms, some bathroom... Great value, great people, astonishingly clean, showers to put most 5* to shame, and has little or no road noise........ok so it's not 5* luxury, it hasn't got quiet reading rooms, or a pool or a spa.......but it delivers straight forward student/budget hostel accommodation that's clean friendly, safe and with showers that work ( and in London that's rare!!). I wouldn't recommend the Generator Hostel. I chose to ignore the reviews of others as a lot of the complaints were things I expected out of hostel staying but my experience echos the experiences of others. The room stunk, the beds were dirty, the mattresses worn out. There were bars on the windows, and none of the lockers had a functioning lock. Our door didn't have a privacy lock, either. The toilets were clean, but the showers were freezing cold. As we were travelling as part of a large group, the girls had got a female-only... More
