Just returned from this hotel and, having read some of the not-so-positive reviews, I feel that it is only fair to relate the experience as I found it. Firstly, this was a ‘package’ with Caledonian Travel for a four night stay which included return coach transfer from Glasgow….and dinner, bed and breakfast, all at a ‘budget’ price. The hotel rooms, although some people have commented that the decor is dated with dark wood furnishings, were extremely clean. There were a few paint marks on the carpet, but this was not a complaint. The beds had clean white bedding and were very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was decent-sized with plentiful hot water, a good shower and clean towels. We were told, by our bus driver, and upon arrival at the hotel, that there would be no domestic room service throughout the stay, but simply to ask any of the domestic staff, or at reception, if anything was required (eg fresh towels, tea, coffee, toilet rolls, etc.). This was not a problem for myself or my partner as we don’t find it a problem to keep a room tidy throughout a holiday. The staff were all friendly and helpful, when approached. The breakfast was buffet style with a very good selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast-making facilities and muffins and pastries. There was also a full cooked buffet provided and the selection, which included a variety of eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms was all very good. The buffet dinner offered soup, a selection of hot food with, usually, chicken or fish on offer and a ‘roast of the day’. Salad and vegetables with potatoes and chips were also plentiful and it would be hard not to find something suitable There was a good choice of dessert with a hot ‘pudding’ daily and also cake, fruit and cream. The hotel was in an ideal position for DLR, underground and rail connections into the centre of London…..all a short 5-10 minute walk. All in all, we had a wonderful break, so much so, that we have booked again for later in the year.…
