Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The downstairs looks good, but the bedrooms another story, no free wi - fi. In room, breakfast not warm. Outdated room, ID on check in ( first to me, been in many hotels, never been asked). POSITIVE the hotel had a very nice perfume smell in most areas.

Good: The location was perfect for what we wanted. 10 minute walk to canary wharf underground, the jubilee line and the DLR. Plenty of food and coffee around the area if needed. Bad: The fact that they asked for ID for my 14 year old daughter at the desk was a shock. Apparently, she needed ID for security purposes, they wanted a bank card or a passport for her, which she does not have!! I was then asked for a photo of me and her together to prove she was my daughter!!! I have taken my daughter to many hotels, and NEVER have I been made to feel like I needed to prove she belonged to me and that I hadn't stolen her!! Ridiculous. We were staying on the 8th floor, the walls were paper thin, we could hear full blown conversations from the other rooms, we heard the TV programmes they were watching and it went on till long after midnight. We left our room at 6pm and returned at around 11:45pm, and the entire floor we were staying on smelt strongly of marjuana. We had to use deodorant and perfume in our room to get rid of the smell it was that strong. I reported it to reception via phone and someone came up at midnight (we had gotren into our pyjamas by this time when he knocked the door) and asked us if we'd like to change rooms...at midnight after a long day we decided against it but we were told nothing could be done about the smell...so considering the rooms were all supposed to be no smoking they didn't seen shocked by the smell at all. The gentleman actually told us it was mostly businessmen that were staying there ao he didnt know what he could do...I didn't ask what sort of clientele they had staying as I personally didn't think it mattered, but considering we could hear the conversations in the other room I knew they weren't "businessmen" that were staying over. The rooms themselves were very basic and very dated. There was a wet/greasy large mark on the wall, the heating didn't work it only blew out cold air and the fabric chairs were stained. This hotel definitely needs updating and is very decieving from the outside and the reception area. We won't be staying there again.

Just returned from this hotel and, having read some of the not-so-positive reviews, I feel that it is only fair to relate the experience as I found it. Firstly, this was a ‘package’ with Caledonian Travel for a four night stay which included return coach transfer from Glasgow….and dinner, bed and breakfast, all at a ‘budget’ price. The hotel rooms, although some people have commented that the decor is dated with dark wood furnishings, were extremely clean. There were a few paint marks on the carpet, but this was not a complaint. The beds had clean white bedding and were very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was decent-sized with plentiful hot water, a good shower and clean towels. We were told, by our bus driver, and upon arrival at the hotel, that there would be no domestic room service throughout the stay, but simply to ask any of the domestic staff, or at reception, if anything was required (eg fresh towels, tea, coffee, toilet rolls, etc.). This was not a problem for myself or my partner as we don’t find it a problem to keep a room tidy throughout a holiday. The staff were all friendly and helpful, when approached. The breakfast was buffet style with a very good selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast-making facilities and muffins and pastries. There was also a full cooked buffet provided and the selection, which included a variety of eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms was all very good. The buffet dinner offered soup, a selection of hot food with, usually, chicken or fish on offer and a ‘roast of the day’. Salad and vegetables with potatoes and chips were also plentiful and it would be hard not to find something suitable There was a good choice of dessert with a hot ‘pudding’ daily and also cake, fruit and cream. The hotel was in an ideal position for DLR, underground and rail connections into the centre of London…..all a short 5-10 minute walk. All in all, we had a wonderful break, so much so, that we have booked again for later in the year.

Absolute poor excuse of a hotel . Its like being stuck in a late 80s time zone .so dated its embarrassing. When I went to check in I was told that there will be no window in my room as you have to pay extra for one ........yes you read right for a a window that let's sunlight in 🤯then to be told WiFi is at a £8 charge for 24 hours nearly £40 for the duration of my stay . The staff was the final straw asked for a glass of water for my room at 11.15 pm to be told no and offered my a tiny plastic instead there just couldn't be bothered to help me .could be a nice place if ran properly and the staff actually cared for the guests .avoid at all costs

We recently arrived at 8pm on friday evening, everything looked pleasant in reception area, and staff seemed friendly, got to room on 6th floor. Seemed ok, just a bit tired and worn out. But ok for short stay, now this is where it goes horribly wrong, finally settled for the night after a long tiring journey, to be woken up by loud talking from the room next door, to be expected, but it went on for hours, then it took a turn, the couple started shouting at each other and it went on and on, then what i can only describe as furniture being thrown around, 3 loud bangs and we went and complained, reception ssid theyd come and sort it out, before they did the shouting continued and more loud bangs, the feared for someones life at this point, eventually they were thrown out. Finally able to settle to then be woken by the otherside throwing up very loudly. All in all not a good night, following night was a bit better. But by then i couldn’t wait to leave.

Went with an open mind after reading some reviews. Turned out a great stay. Meals were excellent, plenty choices. Restaurant staff were excellent. Hotel of itself was lovely, our room was on 7th floor. I accidently set off the red cord alarm in bathroom at 2 am. There was a call from reception that I missed, but instantly there was a member of staff at the door to check all was well. Top marks for that - before leaving the young chap said to contact reception if we needed help. That actually gave me a lot of peace of mind. We had a brilliant view of a firework display on the Friday night. I would happily return here.

Shockingly bad…. The window was broken in my room which caused a loudly draft on my first night. Maintenance were able to fix it on the second day My booking included breakfast but each morning at the buffet I was told my room did not include breakfast and this caused needless arguments!

My partner and I stayed here for two of the worst nights in my life. The entrance is an eyesore, the carpets are filthy. Some staff were lovely but for the majority they were not helpful and just seemed as though they couldn’t be bothered with anything. We attempted to use the elevator to get to our room (death trap). There are two elevators and on the off chance it worked for us, it just banged and collided with its surroundings. The room was an eyesore as soon as we walked in, the carpets were filthy and outdated, the windows were broken and they were beyond dirty that we barely saw anything out of them! The bed was actually broken underneath, the bed it was horrible to sleep in, the pillows weren’t the usual hotel standard ones just some lumpy horrible pillows. The aircon did not work which was a huge issue considering the room was reading 32 degrees and climbing. The shower temperature was only boiling or freezing. There was a pube hair in the bath, and stains along the bathroom wall, the rest of the rooms decor was just awful!!! Due to my partner and I getting severe heatstroke and a ambulance on the way, we asked if we could have a room with aircon. They moved us to a room that you had to climb a random flight of curves stairs to get into, now these stairs weren’t the entrance to the room they were apart of the whole room. The new room was slightly more modern with much more room but with faulty electric sockets. This room also did not have a working aircon. We asked for a fan, we were denied this. Our new upgraded room had a balcony which connected us to four other rooms who all shared this balcony too. I found this very uncomfortable. So we ended up being worse off, severe heatstroke trapped in a hot room with no working aircon or fan to help. So all in all, I wouldn’t let a rat near the hotel let alone set foot in it. After explaining to the manager that my heatstroke continued to get worse due to the condition of the room she had told us we will get a full refund, no issues. I then emailed back and forth with Britannia hotels about this refund for them to send me the most snarky unprofessional email I have ever seen. So to end my review, Britannia are indescribably terrible, horrible hotels with incompetent, delusional management. This is shocking and I’m surprised they are not shut down. (They definitely should be) If you are considering staying here, then please please please try to find somewhere else, it isn’t worth your money or your time. PRO-TIP pitch a tent, find a field and chill there, you will have a 10x better experience.

No sure, nice restaurant, lovely rooms, if you can find them, no blue badge concessions, no disabled parking, not very disabled friendly, WiFi rubbish especially when in your room, of cause unless you want to pay premium, I was a little disappointed
