Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spa was very beautiful and clean, staff were amazing and helpful It was a lovely touch having iced clothes handed out while relaxing in the sauna, was much needed! Took some beautiful pics and enjoyed the peach Bellini drink in the hot tub Only down side is that I rang 12 times over a period of days to try get through to the desk, no answer, when ringing reservations to ask for help all they could do is transfer me over to the spa and still didn’t get a response… Managed to get a response over email

Beautiful facilities & staff are so attentive (but not overwhelming) we did the afternoon tea and spa + mud room. It is well worth the money! Hands down the best spa we have ever been to. I could not recommend this anymore. We didnt have any cocktails but they looked amazing.

Amazing day and such friendly and helpful staff. So peaceful and a truly relaxing experience with enough areas that it doesn’t feel overly crowded and choice for everyone. The outside pool was the perfect temperature to enjoy a drink and looks over the lake.

A really lovely relaxing day, the staff were brilliant and could not do enough for you but only when asked. They didn't bother you otherwise. Hotel was fantastic, we stayed in the new part in a suite with a bath at the end of the bed. It had lovely views of rabbits and sheep in the fields above. lovely food at the restaurant and at breakfast. Just perfect, thank you.

Stunning location, spa is incredible, the only thing that let it down was the short staffing which meant rooms were never cleaned and our door was even left open with our dog inside which wasn’t great. We were given a discount on complaint from the manager which was definitely due considering the hefty per night pricing. So much potential for this to be a great hotel. Just needs the right staffing. Spa was absolutely amazing couldn’t fault it!

It promised so much yet unfortunately whilst sitting in the big beautiful window over looking the lake enjoying our coffee before the day even began, the manager took the WRONG decision to have a meeting with a disgruntled couple right next to us!! She was talking very loudly about what a waste of money the place was, the rude staff and the whole coffee area heard it. Safe to say it left a bitter taste in our mouths. We then felt rather 'on a conveyor belt' for the rest of the day. We weren't made to feel 'special' or even wanted by many of the staff around the place... Average afternoon tea was served very quickly - left under a warm light I wonder?! Certainly not enough for two people to share. Wish we'd booked the two course meal instead. The beauty treatments for myself and my husband were the absolute HIGHLIGHT of the day. Peace, calm and quiet. Away from the shouting!! The beauticians were very knowledgeable and friendly. Glad I added the tip in to my bill! The thermal journey however, isn't a 'journey' as it is lots of different areas to visit over multiple layers with no real start or finish. Unfortunately lots of younger clientele were filming throughout the whole time - don't blame them for wanting to capture the beauty of the surroundings - BUT trying not to be FILMED in my bikini by strangers was quite tricky. All in all, beautiful place, and I would recommend the beauty treatments, BUT staff seemed unhappy / hassled and I felt it WAS NOT worth £400!!!!

Generally a fantastic hotel. The staff are very warm and helpful. The spa is fantastic and the views are breath-taking. I struggled with the mattress and the walls between rooms let a lot of sound through making it a bit difficult to sleep at times. However the rooms are plush and I would recommend the hotel as a whole to anyone. The spa was amazing.

Hotel & spa very nice & the staff are lovely. Extremely expensive, paid over £303.05 for the room for 1 night, which included a £75 credit. Not happy for this price you cannot use the spa at any time & its an extra £60 each when you can use it to use the infinity pool. Everything had extras. Had food at the Blue Smoke, sent a couple of meals back, when we they eventually got the meals right, it was very nice. Paid £105 each for a 50 min massage, we didn't get 50 mins. Be careful when booking a massage they don't include a service charge of 10%, this happened to us, however the hotel refunded this. Overall we had a nice stay but it could of been better

We booked a couples trip. When we arrived we stood at reception for over 10 mins before someone arrived. Spa wasn’t included and this was not made clear at the time of booking as it states ‘all leisure facilities included’ then shows pictures of the spa. Restaurants were fully booked and could only get in at 8.45pm. Breakfast was full between 9-10.30. The leisure facilities were poor, very overcrowded. Rooms were noisy.

Dear cahugill, Thank you for your review following your recent trip. I am sorry to read that you feel let down with your stay and that we failed to meet our usual high standards. We always encourage our guests to book the restaurants and spa in advance to avoid disappointment. I am sorry we were unable to accommodate your preferred timings once at the hotel, and I will liaise with my colleagues who work alongside the third party sites to review how this is communicated. We are always looking at how to improve the guest experience, and your feedback helps us to achieve this. Kind Regards, Michael Eccles - Guest Experience Manager
