reading the poor reviews caused me to go to the other hostelries in hawkshead for a family meal but due to poor service etc went to the queens head and was absolutely delighted with the service on arrival at the bar. The food was good and the service by the romanian waitress and all the others was second to none.... More

We booked the Queen's Head for a weekend break after reading the various reviews on here. I have got to say that everything we read on here was accurate. Our welcome was friendly, the staff were attentive and professional and the food was excellent. It is true to say the room we had was a little tired but it was... More

We stayed for 3 nights in the four poster room in The brown Cow annexe. The room was clean, cosy and the bed was roomy and extremely comfortable with a lovely clean en suite shower room (though slightly dated colour scheme!) sheets and towels were changed daily. The food in the restaurant was really good with fresh seasonal ingrediants and... More

Stayed recently with friends for 3 nights and everything was spot on. Greeted with coffee and tea and shown to a lovely room. The breakfast and evening meals were plentiful and served by attentive staff. The bar had a great atmosphere and the live music on the Friday night had the place rocking. Definitely worth a visit. Two of us booked this Inn for a five night stay. We were greeted by warm smiling faces and felt welcome instantly. Our room was immaculate. The bed linen was changed daily and the room cleaned. The ambience in the bar is friendly and relaxed. The staff were engaging and attentive. The menus for lunch and dinner are both delicious... More

My husband booked a long weekend here as a consolation for not going to Egypt because I have broken my leg. Hawkshead is a great location, it's traffic free and has pretty good access for someone in a wheelchair or on crutches. The staff at the Queens Head were great. We had a ground floor suite in the Brown Cow... More

Food nice, unhappy barman/manager, appeared pretty disinterested in customers, dining room staff good and made up for the sour looking grumppy front bar staff. More

This pub/hotel was recommended to myself for taking my elderly mother to for an early evening meal. I luckily booked a table as the venue was very busy but with a lovely buzzy atmosphere yet relaxing! We had a fabulous meal which was delightfully tasty and the service provided by our two waitresses was excellent. They were very attentive and... More
