Six of us stayed here for 4 nights over New Year and we were all very comfortable in fairly spacious and spotlessly clean rooms.Breakfast was standard for a B and B and the ingredients were of a high quality. There was plenty of information available including lots of maps and, had the weather been better, the B and B is... More

The room was clean (peach coloured room) and spacious with an excellent view to the rear.My partner and i found the room very cold even after we pulled the curtains to.there was a spot of damp on the rear facing walls ...nothing major though. The shower was useless and the pressure non... We stopped for one night during the classic cumbria way walk in this beautiful little guesthouse, we were welcomed by a very nice lady (probably the mother of the owner) and she showed us this beautiful confortable room with a very nice bed and a great view of the mountains, Just outside of our window dozens of multicolored little birds... This is by far the best place we have stayed in England. (We've been walking in England for 4 weeks and stayed in 12 B&Bs.) Traditional building and furnishings. Light and spacious. Attention to detail and attentive. Well cooked breakfast catered to all dietary needs as well as home made jams etc. Healthy sandwiches, cake and fruit for lunch. Great... More

My husband and I were completing the Cumbria way. We stayed at the Oaklands for two nights, it was by far the best b&b that we stayed at throughout our trip. The location was central but quiet, the views were amazing, and the decor of our room and the bathroom were nice, tidy and clean. We felt very much at... More

Rooms are very good and in particular the bathroom with a bath tub. A bonus after a hard days walking. Breakfast was great and left me fit and full for the Cumbria Way. More

I just returned from a month cycling and hiking in the UK. I travelled with 5 really fantastic women. We hiked the Cumbria Way and spent several nights at Oaklands Guesthouse in Coniston. Out of the entire month in the UK, Oaklands had the best beds of all B&Bs. In fact we were lucky enough to book an extra night... More

I've stayed in a lot of B&B's in the lake district and this one is pretty standard. There were no major issues (just a few minor irritations) and if you are planning a short walking break then this place is a good choice. Judith (the host) was pleasant and informative. The location was good for walking and for popping out... More

My friend and I stayed here whilst walking the Cumbria Way. Fantastic guesthouse, very friendly owners, nothing was too much trouble for Zeke and Judith. Lovely rooms and the breakfast was very yummy. Highly recommended! More
