Just returned from a 2 nights stay at Barnes Fell on a B & B basis and found it to be exceptionally good and well-deserving of its 5 stars. Although the room we had was quite small there was everything you could need, toiletries, bathrobes, flat screen wall-mounted TV, tea and coffee making facilities, etc. The room and bathroom were... This was our first trip to the lake district and we went for a short break following our wedding before our main honeymoon. The b&b is situated in a stunning location overlooking the conniston range. The accomodation was every bit as good as the reviews that we had read about it prior to booking it. The room that we stayed... More

We were made to feel welcome from booking through to departure. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with food being presented to a high standard. Barnes Fell is set in a peaceful area of Ambleside with easy access to restaurants and shops. It was our first stay but we will definitely be returning as we arrived... More

We were greeted very warmly by Ethna, the owner, who offered help with our luggage. The room was on the first floor and faced the back garden - Wansfell. It was immaculate, comfortably furnished and well appointed with terry robes, toiletries, hair dryer, wifi and flat screen TV. The wifi worked well. Breakfasts were very generous and tasty. They were... More

Our second visit with Ethna & Nick and while there we booked again for later in the year. So that says it all to us. Spotless, great breakfast, wonderful hosts and didn't want to leave . . . Again! The warm welcome is like home. Free parking, quiet but yet right in the heart of everything. Perfect. Thanks Ethna and... More

I have to say this is one of the best bed and breakfasts we have stopped in, very clean, great breakfast, Ethna & Nick are very friendly and helpful. The little extras in the room like the flowers from the garden, dressing gowns, toiletries, made it home from home, we are already planning our next visit. TOP CLASS. More
