What a find the Red Bank is and we will defo be returning! George and Val were very accommodating and couldn't do enough for us even when we arrived late, cold and wet from walking, we were told to sit by the log fire with a warm drink. Our room was wonderful, the bed was huge and very comfortable, in... More

We have just spent our 3rd New Year at Red Bank and it was excellent as usual - even the very wet weather conditions didn't spoil our stay. George and Val have this business off to a fine art. It's like staying with family! Beautiful surroundings and atmosphere that does fit the phrase "home from home." Excellent location with private... More

Thanks for your very kind comments and, as you said, shame about the rain while you were here. The log fire does help to warm you when you have returned from a walk on the wet side! We look forward to seeing you both again, hopefully in the near future. More

Excellent stay at Red Bank - 11th to 13th November. The rooms were great, good size twin room, with great facilities and very clean. The breakfasts were excellent - quality of the english breakfast was very good and service was superb. Val and George were very welcoming, gave us some great advice on local restaurants and walks and couldn't have... More

Can only echo everybody elses comments. Just had 2 nights stay in Room 2 (October 29th). The whole place is absolutely spotless, spacious, and extremely comfortable. Apart from our own bed, this is the first decent one we've slept in for years. The room wasn't your basic B&B layout, lovely bedding, really thick curtains, large ensuite with bath and separate... We had a wonderful 3 days and were blessed with lovely weather. We stayed at Red Bank a few years ago and revisited every year over a 5 year period. Val and George have taken over since we visited last, and they are lovely people. They are very hospitable and the food is great. In the past we have stayed... More

Not a lot new to say really - as other reviews have said, this is a top quality establishment, in a great spot just outside the centre of Ambleside, with many restaaurants within 5 minutes walk, and Lake Windemere only 10 minutes away. There is off-raoad parking. The B&B was spotless, the hosts freindly and helpful, the breakfast excellent, the... More

Just back from a 4 day stay at Red Bank. (5th-9thAug) Val & George are great hosts. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice and all locally sourced produce. The rooms are spotless, as is the whole house. Val puts fresh milk in the fridge on the landing for her guests and there's even complementory sherry. Both have extended local knowledge... More

A small B&B (3 rooms) about five minutes' walk from the centre of the village. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and an adequate size. It was at the back of the house and very quiet though I think there wasn't much traffic at night anyway. The breakfast, with a good variety of items available, set us up for... More

After a disapointing start to our weekend, hubby and I were assisted by the wonderfull " Ruth" from Bowness- on- Windermere (Hapimag) . She rang round many places and called on a freind from the Ambleside tourist information to arrange us a stay in the wonderfull Red Bank. Val and retired RAF husband, run the B&B with great care of... More
