I stayed at the Thanington for two nights and it was for my partners 30th birthday and that we stay in Canterbury a lot as its our favorite place. The good points were that the hotel was reasonably clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice. But sadly this was spoilt. I booked a superior... More

I checked into the suite they have for a relaxing weekend while in the UK on business. It was great. The room was nicely furnished, comfortable and clean. The hotel staff were great and I really enjoyed a nice drink chatting with some folks in the bar. Canterbury is a great place to visit and I'll definitely be back to... More

I had the pleasure to stay at Thanington for a short weekday break with my partner. We booked a four poster room for two nights. The room was bigger than expected, with everything that we needed for a couple of days. Lovely breakfast!!! Swimming pool a plus!! More

We stayed here with our two young children last weekend. The hotel itself was great for us - good sized room, comfy beds, the pool looked fab, excellent breakfast. It was a shame therefore that I was not allowed to finish my glass of wine while watching the football in the tv room, which apparently they had to lock when... More

We booked for two nights but was so impressed with the hotel we stayed for three. The room was spotless and tastfully decorated,it had a swimming pool which was very clean. The bar was very cosy and welcoming, and the breakfast superb. The garden was lovely with a fish pond a nice retreat for summer evenings. All staff were friendly... More

Bit of a hike from Canterbury West station (we took train from London) and not exactly central but hotel receptionist very pleasant - offered advice on local eateries (we checked-in too late to take advantage of hotel's own fare) - and rooms clean/spacious enough with the character you'd expect from family-run hotel. Hearty breakfast here set us up for the... More

Full marks to the Thanington - the rooms were very comfortable (ours had a bathroom bigger than most other hotel rooms we've stayed in!), the staff extremely helpful (their restaurant guide to the city proved very useful), the location good (a 15 minute walk into town), and the breakfast good. Off-street parking is available (although a bit tight) - but... More

I booked 2 rooms at the Thanington for a 2 night break with friends. We were upgraded to a 'superior' room and it was disgusting. The net curtains were frayed and the bathroom was filthy. The room was in need of a total refurbishment. The owner did refund half the bill for all of us because on top of everything... More

Stayed Friday night - room was compact but very clean and tidy and lovely bathroom. Only a 15 minute walk to the centre so well placed. We paid £90 for a twin room including breakfast and felt this was a fair rate. The pool was an added bonus and the courtyard garden lovely to sit in at the end of... More

The room in the extension at the back was basic, but large enough, and quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. Room was warm and beds comfy. The staff were all efficient and very friendly and helpful. The courtyard garden was pretty and the pool a lovely bonus. We didn't mind the walk into the Centre, as we got... More
