We stayed in this hotel beginning of february for a saturday night. I have read the reviews and was aware that some people had problems with the noise so was a little apprehensive. We had the King William IV room, which was gorgeous. It was huge, really well decorated and had a massive bed. Also was a view of the... More

Booked this hotel on a Lastminute.com deal a few days before heading down to Brighton for a friend's party at short notice. A thorough prior search of B and B options had come up against a seemingly ubiquitous 2-night minimum proviso with many of them, until the Royal York popped up anonymously as a 'secret luxury hotel' offer. The price... More

Upgraded to deluxe business class room with sea view for just £20 on arrival.great location with the pier, the lanes shopping, odeon cinema and plenty of places to eat and drink. Looks shabby from the outside but modern rooms. Only downfall is we had to park the car 10 minutes walk away and pay £25 for the night. Excellent service!... More

We were at a family wedding in Brighton in mid January 2012 and, based on its location we booked 2 nights, Friday and Saturday, in the Royal York, Brighton. We booked a business class room hoping for a leisurely break – we asked at check in if it was a quiet room and were assured that it was as quiet... More

My husband and I stayed at the Royal York at the end of August as one of his friends was having his wedding reception at the hotel. While the building is lovely, and the reception room was done up very nicely for the wedding, we did have a number of issues with the hotel itself. Our room had been remodeled... More

Stoped at the Royal for two nights. Good Points - Position decent room and Breakfast good thought lacked 4 star presentation.Friendly staff. Bad Points - Not 4 Star (Overpriced) Noisy due to front facing room with night clubs emptying until till 4am ( you would think double glazing was a must).Very little amenaties within hotel. Ceiling creaked with every movment... More

We were met with a big warm smile and allocated room 311 on the third floor overlooking the green, the room was large with a good bathroom clean and nicely decorated, we had a nice stay and would be happy to return, my only comment would be the noise from the busy city, The Italian girl on the bar was... I cannot understand why so many negative reviews. Stayed for 1 night on 9 December 2011 following a Christmas party. Had lovely room on the 1st floor. Facing the road away from the sea so was a little noisy with traffic but not a major issue. Room was clean, modern and a reasonable size. I had a room only deal... More

This hotel is awful! There is a nightclub right at the back of the hotel that stays open until about 4am - the queue outside the nightclub must have 50-100 drunk people in it shouting, singing and laughing. It was like being 'in' the nightclub itself and was impossible to sleep! It is a known problem to the hotel and... More

If I could copy a review from anyone else it would be the one from Tim38E below - having booked this on a lastminute.com secret hotel too (although we paid far more than you did so you were lucky!) I think the overall problem with this hotel is that it's not a 4* and shouldn't be charging 4* prices. Apart... More
