We went on a school trip with low expectations but were pleasantly surprised!! The hostel was clean, tidy and the service couldn't be better. With games such as twister, monopoly and scrabble to play we never got bored!! The rooms were high quality with sturdy metal bunk beds and the showers were warm and clean! The food as basic but... It has good showers and would widely recommend the jacket potato with cheese. What however cost it, it's fifth star was the fact they wouldn't mix meals. i.e. Have jacket potato with fish from fish and chips. Another disappointment was that the T.V. in the lounge looks as if it was plucked from 1988, but now I am just being... More

I booked with my family via a promotional offer on their main website. As avid hostellers my family and I have stayed at numerous hostels across the country and our short stay at Swanage did not dissapoint. The service was excellent, the charming old building was clean and warm and the home cooked meals were hot and tasty. We paid... More

I stayed recently in a family room with my two children. Here's the positive: It is a beautiful building from the outside and the entrance hall, dining room and lounge are lovely rooms. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Swanage is a great place and there's lots to do. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the accommodation. YHA... More

Just a short walk down the hill to the beach. Lovely old building. Some bedrooms rather small with nowhere to put luggage and some with old style YHA mattresses which are not v comfortable. Kitchen in need of renovation. Staff v friendly and helpful. Pool table kept kids amused. Overall good.

Our family room was small and durty. No space in it. No table for my kid. Everything had to be put on the little durty ground. No towell. But durty floor. Smelling matratz and a small window with a view on a roof. And this little room with 4 beds. A prison with durt would have been closed. And it... More

Stayed here for 4 nights for a late summer break with a toddler. I thought the foyer, dining room, and lounge were all really impressive for a youth hostel. There is a very usable self-catering kitchen and laundry. our room was very basic but clean and bright. our particular room had a brilliant view out across the bay. To be... More

We stayed 5 nights with my two boys (aged 2 and 3) and we had a family room which was unfortunately quite small, but had a bay window with a beautiful view of the seaside. We slept in bunk beds which were very narrow and very high for my boys. My youngest fell out of the lower bunk in the... More
