Duncan is a very good chef. the place is very homely. My only concern is that after 3 visits this year, the menu doesnt change much.with only 4 choices on the menu it would be nice to something new on the menu.Since our last meal we have been out 3 times else where purly for this reason. More

Had my birthday meal here last week with friends. We had eaten at the Duncan ( the chef and proprietor's ) previous resturant in Chagford. However, this has taken his cooking to a new level. The food is much more refined and I am really surprised it that he does not have a Michelin star. We have eaten in lots... More

WOW! We stumbled upon the Old Inn on a wet and rainy late August evening. Immediately we were greeted at the door by Anthea and seated in front of the roaring fire with a pint of ale each. Their two lovely labradors and cat make for adorable evening companions, as we waited for our dinner which we picked from the... More

22 Mill St was my favourite place on earth - perfectly executed Michelin star cooking minus the ponce. My mission was to visit every time I was down from London visiting family in Exeter. So I was pretty inconsolable a few years ago when Duncan sold up and vanished in a puff of motorbike exhaust. Expectation was equally high yesterday... More

This review is for the restaurant at the Old Inn and not the lodgings. My wife and I enjoyed a superb meal at the Old Inn after seeing Jay Rayner's review in The Observer. We were not disappointed. A charming environment and wonderful service made for a really special evening. Our thanks to Duncan, Charlotte as well as Teign &... More

Pampered from the moment of our arrival, we stayed two nights in a lovely room. The breakfast might have been mistaken for the evening's haute cuisine. Dinner was truly astounding. We chose different dishes at each course and sampled each other's. Everything was perfect. Friendly and entertaining informality combined with comfort and the aforementioned pampering made this an ideal stay... More

After a reasonable drive down from Bath, for a quick one night break, both of us were treated to a warm welcome, tea, coffee and some warm scones with jam and clotted cream. With no fuss, no obsequious ramblings we were shown to our lovely room and given directions to a local pub with a nearby walk. A visit to... More

We have family in Devon and as a result visit several times a year. Having stayed there for the first time last spring, we now stay at the Old Inn every time we are down in Devon. Duncan and Anthea (the hosts) are always incredibly welcoming and we are always highly satisfied with the rooms, service and especially the excellent... More

Before offering my many criticisms of this B&B , I would first like to say that food and location of this B&B are exceptional so much so that within hours of our arrival on the first day we requested an extension to our stay which was summarily granted. However, we would in no way prepared for what would come next.... More

Thank you for declaring that the food and location are good but please in future do not take a PUPPY to a B& B. When you made a reservation you asked to bring a small dog not a puppy 2 of the tables in the dining room had to endure your puppy whining in the early part of the evening... More

I have stayed here with a business colleague 4 times now.We are both agreed that there is nowhere within a large radius that offers the chance of a good en suite bedroom allied to absolutely superb food.We used to go to duncans previous restaurant Mill St in Chagford, but this experience is even better.Ver y pleasant atmosphere, very friendly informal service,...
