Staying just outside Newquay we came across The Smugglers Inn by chance. Although a little dated on the outside and the bar area we stopped off for tea with 4 kids and 4 adults. Lovely home cooked food, kids ate all theirs, great beer and friendly staff. Great service, nice pudding choice. Would definitely eat here again.

Spent two nights over the bank holiday weekend. Rod and John friendly and welcoming. The bar and downstairs area are a bit dated but our bedroom was clean and appeared to have been recently updated and renovated. Room was a bit cold the first night even with the small heater on. I mentioned this at breakfast the next morning. That... More

John & Rod what a pleasure to stay at your little hotel. You made us most welcome, the rooms were comfortable, the food delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to Ann your chef for our lovely evening meals and to John for a Cornish breakfast that surpassed that which we ate at a bigger Newquay hotel on Tuesday... More

B & B night before flying to Scilly Isles. Close to Newquay Airport, left car at Smugglers cheaper than airport. Rod ran me and my luggage to airport. Had evening meal, breakfast and lunch, all meals were excellent and home cooked. Good choice on menu. Room very comfortable and extra heaters in room. John and Rod really good hosts. They... More

Overpriced and freezing cold rooms, bring your thermals. Heaters didn't work, TV didn't work, alarm clock couldn't be plugged in. Owners are nice but we felt a bit of an inconvenience to them. Other guests that we spoke to said they were disappointed with the breakfast. Has potential for being great but is sadly not so.

We were staying near Padstow and sought a restaurant/pub where we could meet old friends who now live near Newquay. What a find! Excellent food, very welcoming staff and and excellent locally brewed beer. Remembering John from his time on Scilly, I was delighted to discover that he and Rod had taken over the Smugglers Inn as it is so convenient for flights from Newquay airport.
