We stayed here for a week end of August 2012. Stayed on top floor. Pros--nice room, large. GREAT view.. Easy access to town. Very quiet. Cons- No luggage help to that top floor with great view. Pillows are TERRIBLE (bring your own). Room very dark--no lighting.

St. Andrews hotels and B&Bs had limited availability during our visit, but a B&B we had contacted suggested we try the Tara Manor Inn. The inn grounds are lovely and well manicured. The rooms are a bit outdated, but very clean. Staff are lovely. It is a very peaceful spot and a short distance into town.

With the Fairmont Algonquin closed for reservations, when completed it will re open under the Marriott banner, nice hotel choices are limited in the area.
