We booked a room by visiting the motel in person as we needed a room on arrival at Cochrane on our way back from Moosoone from train. The motel owner confirmed the reservation and took the credit card details. On the day of arrival at the Motel, the manager had simply disappeared. She was not available at her office and... More

I was travelling to Toronto and since I had I stayed at this property two years ago upon the suggestion of a friend (not to be confused with a recommendation) I figured I would visit it again. Two years ago the motel was old but not unpleasant and was pretty much what I expected for the price, especially at a... More

Like other reviewers we were staying in this motel on our way to Moosonee. When rating this motel, one has to consider the following: 1) Cochrane is in the middle of nowhere (no offence), it is a small town which cannot be compared to Toronto or New York in terms of accomodations offered. 2) Most people do not stay long... My sister and I stayed in this motel a week ago. I found it online and from the reviews and photos it looked like just what we were looking for...inexpensive, clean and close to train station. When we arrived there were 4 dubious looking characters drinking beer at a picnic table on front lawn.....one got up and proceeded to urinate... More

We were traveling to Moosonee on the Polar Bear Express out of Cochrane and needed a place; rooms in Cochrane are limited and pricey. I found the Commando in my Lonely Planet "Canada" book and decided to give it a try. We were pleasanty surprised; the rooms are small but very clean. The beds were comfortable and the area is... My partner and I had been planning a trip to Moosonee. As we were on a budget, we found the other hotels expensive for what we needed. My partner stumbled into this. The only hitch was on the Thursday when we arrived in Cochrane, they had overbooked, however, the owner got us a room at the Best Western across the... More

We recently travelled through Cochrane on our way up to Moose Factory to visit family. We had to book a room both ways as we were taking the Polar Bear Express. Rooms in Cochrane are very overpriced. The room rates here were a fraction of what other places wanted. We were only looking for a place to sleep that was... More

This little motel was a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a place near the train station for an overnight stay, and found this one less than a half-block away. The new owners were there early in the morning, when I needed to drop off my stuff, and late at night when I came back to check in, and were... More
