We have a great stay at the Waikava lodge with extended family. The lodge had plenty of space which was great as the Autumn weather was changeable. Had all the facilities that you could hope for but the best bit has to be the location. We had a great few days exploring the Catlins. Our favourite was the penguins at... More

A lovely well appointed unit. Having the internet was a bonus. We were able to check on things to do and plan our next days outings. Was a good location for visiting the attractions. Handy to Curio Bay where we viewed penguins. It look several trips to view them but patience prevailed. We stayed 2 nights and were able to... More

Stayed at the main house which has a great view over the inlet, facing east so gets the full benefit of the sunrise. Another good example of the Kiwi holiday let: clean, well equipped and functional. Strongly recommended and thanks to the owners for sharing.

Stayed two nights in the biggest house. We were just 2 but the other smaller ones were taken and had to settle for this 3+ rooms house, but we do not regret it. The place is spacious and the living had a wonderful view of the. Nothing between us and the sea. In the evening it started raining and it... More

Very nicely appointed cottages with a lovely vista out over the estuary (ToiTois had better views than Harakeke). There were excellent instructions provided for operating the TV/DVD player, stove, internet etc. as well as great information on the area. We only stayed for a night but this is the sort of place where you would like to stay for a... More

We chose to stay here after exhausting other options in the area and were pleased that we did. The location is delightful, with a pretty outlook and the cottage is basic but adequate. However, we had 2 problems with our stay, which need not put anyone else off! Firstly, a man in the house quite close to the cottages was... More

We stayed at Waikava Harbour View by chance but we were so glad we found it! During the first week of our five-week camper tour around the South Island I slipped whilst tramping in the Catlins and broke my shoulder. After spending one night in the camper it soon became clear that I was going to need a decent bed... More

We stayed overnight in the Tois cottage while travelling down the Catlins coast. After some initial confusion when trying the collect the key from the local museum, where the fellow manning it seemed to have no idea what key to give us, we settled into the correct place and found it very comfortable. It was bright and clean and had... More

Our 2 first nights on the South Island were spent here. It was a delightful introduction. We enjoyed watching the birds in the nearby paddock from our window. We ventured out (it was October and windy) to take the bush walk and saw our first tree ferns and many of the native NZ trees (well-labeled). Also, experienced our first fantail... More

The unit was very well appointed, clean and comfortable, with idyllic views of the harbour. Because we were there in winter there was a lot of condensation on the inside windows when it froze outside and was toasty warm inside. There also wasn’t much open in the area, but the Niagara Falls café just a few minutes down the road... More

Thanks Carolyn S for taking the time to share your experience of staying in one of our Waikava Harbour View cottages. Yes can be quite chilly in the Catlins in July and we are pleased you were nice and warm. Unfortunately there is some condensation due to cold outside and warm inside. We really appreciate your recommendation for others to... More
