Our farm in a fertile valley, history, tradition and customs inherited throughout five generations are held in our ancient country house. We propose them to live through the culture of the Valleys Calchaquies, to taste its gastronomy, landscapes, family attention and an incomparable peace.

We were delighted to find this Finca after a 3 hr drive on the unmade RN 40 from Cachi. After a slight disagreement over whether the US$ 31for the night should have the 20%tax added on- it shouldn’t for foreign tourists! - we had a marvellous stay with a very welcoming Graciela. The accommodation is compromised as the Finca is very old but the bed linen and towels are immaculate and everything is very clean. The dinner - with their home grown torrontes was first class and inexpensive. Similarly breakfast was simple but excellent. The setting is simply ravishing. Not to be missed if you are on the RN 40

Our mouths dropped open as we landed at Finca El Carmen. As we pulled in with the late afternoon light stretched over the stunning backdrop of dramatic rock formations all we could do was gasp. It is a beautiful setting within a perfectly peaceful atmosphere. We were charmed from the start and that was before we had a chance to meet the warm, lovely family who all work together to provide a most comfortable and memorable experience. Just a short drive away lies the breathtaking Quebrada de las Flechas, well worth the trip.

Feels authentically like living on a lone ranch with the Quebrada at your footstep. Visit the animals, agricultural museum or the church and have a great tranquil time. They opened they doors / the entire hotel just for us. Very friendly hosts and good food. Thanks for a memorable stay!

FInca el Carmen is a calm and beautiful place. Their marketing states "Turismo de Estancia", that could be translated into "in the middle of nowhere". We left Salta at 7:00 AM for Cachi, a four and a half hours drive with spectacular skylines; we couldn't find a place to stay at Cachi for one night on Jan 1st, so we left for another long drive towards Cafayate. We had previously made a reservation at La Finca el Carmen a few days before. The owner Graciela and her daughter Carolina received us very warmly, we had a very good dinner at the restaurant and left the next morning after a good breakfast and after visiting the museum, the farm with Llamas and sheep you can touch and feed, the church (XVII C.) and the artisan shop. My wife and two kids stayed at a small house a few meters away from the main building; my father in law, his wife and friend inside the main house, next to the restaurant. The skyline is fantastic and the place is calm. Graciela told me the place is visited twice a year by a couple of bike trekker groups that make a stop on their road from Cafayate to Salta. The place can accommodate up to 28 persons, if you take into account a couple of cabins managed by Graciela's in-laws 5 km away, and could be probably a bit noisy in high-season, it is in high demand by Europeans during the winter, but it is sunny during the day. The place where we stayed had two bedrooms (1 double and 1 with 3 single beds), it has a nice bathroom with shower, a kitchen a terrace and a small living room at the entrance, with a little desk where I imagined I could seat and write in peace for a long period of time, no mobile phone signal (at least not for my iPhone), no Wi-Fi; one of Graciela's sons at Salta is in charge of making reservations. I fell in love with the place, if only it was a little closer, but then it would not be as interesting, right? …

Finca El Carmen as been always a beautiful place on Route 40 8 Kms north from angastaco. It is one of those hidden gems that, unfortunatelly. few people stop to enjoy. An old church that in colonial times were by the "Camino Real" is now close to the river´s bed on a clift, proudly set in front of a beautiful mountain standing out from the green valley below. The perseverance of the Lady that owns the farm brought the church back from the ruins. Just the setting is aamzing. The restaurant serves great food, homemade as could not be other way. The hotels provides of wide, comfortable rooms with crafts spread all over. Nice crochet curtains cover wide windows that let the sun get into the cool wals of the old, but well-preserved construction. Carolina, Graciela¨s daughter, the lady who runs the place, shows her art and drawings and the peace of the place gives you that special time for walkig and breath the silence. Take a break, stop and, if you have time, stay. Or start planning a stop there. You will feel in heavens! It has no have internet connection, that makes your stay much nicer. The last thing you would like there is to get connected.…

We stayed at Finca El Carmen in July 2011 as a stopover on the long and tiring drive from Cachi to Cafayate on the advice of a local tour guide. The location of the property is stunning, overlooking the mountains of the Valles Calchaquies from an escarpment. Part of the property is a beatiful old church that was originally built in 1780 and restored by friends/relatives of the owners which can be visited by guests. The property has 6 rooms - ours was large and comfortable and as you would expect, extremely quiet. We had a great sleep that night. Dinner served at the estancia (recommended as there isn't much else around and you wouldn't want to drive Ruta 40 in the dark!) was good as well - even though the menu is relatively simple the servings are large and very tasty. They also let us taste the dulce de cayote which we saw on the menu before we ordered it in our dessert. The highlight of the stay was the hosts - they couldn't have been more hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble and they anticipated our every need. For example on the night we were there it was very windy which meant that the open fire in the room would have been too smoky, so they brought a bar heater to make sure that we wouldn't be cold. Sure they don't speak much English, but you ARE in Argentina... As AR$340 for a double room I thought that this estancia was excellent value. I have no idea what the review in German is talking about regarding the breakfast - the cornflakes are meant to be used as a topping for the generous serves of yoghurt provided, and there was also a large loaf of home made bread with spreads for breakfast.…

We couldn't believe our luck when we stumbled upon this finca as we hadn't found anywhere suitable to stay in Angastaco and it was quite late in the day. The location is superb, not far from Angastaco on the Ruta 40 towards Molinos, with fantastic views over the Valle Calchaquies, an amazing old church and a nearby lake. The rooms are large, comfortable and very well furnished in a traditional style. The finca is very charming with lots of solid wood furniture mainly made by the owners. We had an excellent dinner worthy of a very good restaurant, chosen from an imaginative and quite extensive menu. Extremely quiet and very peaceful environment. Simple but adequate breakfast included in the rate. Don't miss it if you are travelling this route.
