I booked through Brazil Nature Tours (BNT), who were flawless. The Fazenda does not have its own English speaking guides, so BNT supplied its own guide, Rodrigo (originally from Uruguay). First about the location: This is a working farm. You will see lots of cattle but the wildlife was spectacular. The birding here was incredible. Plenty of hyacinths and almost... More

Baia das Pedras is an incredible window into the wildlife and ecology of the Pantanal through a stay at this family-run working cattle ranch. Owners Rita and Carlos offer an experience that includes wildlife drives to view capybaras, lowland tapirs, giant anteaters, tamandua, Jabiru storks, caiman, Hyacinth macaws, howler monkeys, crab-eating foxes, and a plethora of other interesting Pantanal resident... the staff was very nice, excellent food, the setting is amazing and it's a site not to be missed for lovers of wildlife. The ranch offers all the comfort to the western site in the middle of a wilderness populated by species that are very easy to observe. Food-based dishes Brazilian meat (zebu and wild pig), vegetables, and desserts are... More

Baia das Pedras is a wildlife mecca unlike any other I have ever seen. In 12 days we saw four pumas, six giant anteaters, four tamandua--all at incredible close range. Daily we watched wonderful armadillos, hoards of lovely peccaries, astonishing giant storks, scores of macaws. The accommodations on this working ranch (one of the oldest in the region) are homey... Baia das Pedras is a cattle ranch, owned and operated by one of the original families settling the Pantanal. The ranch is huge, over 15,000 hectare, for cattle and horses, located 60 KM from Campo Grande. It takes about 4 hours of dirt road riding to get there. The cattle co-habit the range land and marches with deer, cayman, catybaras,... More

Baía das Pedras is a wonderfully beautiful and cozy place, where you can enjoy great food, very welcoming hosts and the best of Pantanal’s wildlife. I highly recommend this Fazenda if you are planning a trip to Pantanal.

We can't say enough good about staying at the Fazenda Baia des Pedras. The owner Rita has lived in the Patanal her entire life and her knowledge of the land and the wildlife was impressive. The highlights included: a breeding pair of tapirs, 3 species of macaws, ocelot, very, very young lion cubs, 100+ species of birds, and much more.... More

We felt very welcome in this beautifully located range in the middle of the Pantanal. We came here especially for seeing wildlife. And if this is what you want, this is the place to go. Caymans, capybaras, macaws, etc are easily spotted. We spotted even bigger animals like ant eaters and tapir. There was no fixed day program, but we... More

This august a friend and I were planning to visit the Pantanal, and chanced upon Baia das Pedras on the web. We picked it, not knowing what to expect as this was our first trip to Brazil. We couldn't have made a better choice - we spent 3 days there and had fun every day. The birdlife is spectacular. The... More

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Brazil's Pantanal Region. We booked our trip through Brazil Nature Tours. We stayed at Fazenda Baia Das Pedras for 5 nights and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a true Pantanal experience on a working cattle ranch.
