We stayed for a couple of days at the beginning of June 2012 at Pension Pfaffenhofen, a family-run hotel consisting of two buildings. It was out-of-season and we were almost the only visitors. Well-kept rooms, friendly service (also in German and English), the beach some 50 meters away, lots of restaurants nearby, supermarkets and other places to eat. During the season the proprietors offer breakfast, and even dinner, but at this time of the year they recommended to us a very good taverna nearby, on the beach, which we liked very much and visited twice.
Unfortunately, in early 2012 there was a sort of a tornado in Asprovalta that swept most of the sand from the beach into the first and even the second row of houses, leaving the beach in pebbles only. Apart from that and the inevitable mosquitoes in the evenings outside, everything was either perfect or near-perfect. A small town, very calm. A very good location for using a car - one can visit many beaches or mountainous places...
