My husband and I just returned from our first (but hopefully not our last!) trip to Quebec, and I can't say enough good things about our stay at Maison Historique James Thompson. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and full of great artwork (much of it by Guitta). The room was lovely and clean, with a view over the streets of... More

We stayed at Maison Historique James Thompson during the first weekend of Carnaval. The location is excellent for exploring the city and the rooms are very nice. Guitta was very welcoming and prepared the best breakfast! Definitely recommended.

We arrived at the B&B in a pouring rain. Guitta greeted us at the door, took our bags inside, and gave us an umbrella to use while we returned our rental car a block away. When we got back, our bags were already upstairs; how she managed it, I'll never know, but Guitta was amazing in so many ways that... More

I just returned from a great trip to Quebec City and a stay at this B&B. From the moment I got there (after 10pm), I felt welcome and cared for by Guitta, the hostess. She is a very busy woman, cooking breakfast including homemade baked treats, cleaning, and catering to guests. She went out of her way every morning to... More

Perfect location inside the walls of the old city, free parking (never used our car for 3 days), bountiful and delicious breakfasts (with choice of 3 entrees), and helpful suggestions from Guitta, our host. The place is "historique" in charm, needs some updating, but is quiet and comfortable. Recommend the Thai restaurant around the corner and Cape Breton Crepes on... More

Very comfortable and a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfasts were great and the hosts had many suggestions of things to do and see. The location was very good since walking is the only way to see the old part of Quebec City.

Although I cannot say anything against its fabulous location right in the heart of Old Quebec with parking and excellent breakfasts, I do not agree with other visitors' comments about the hosts. We had booked two rooms for two nights and were welcomed by one of the daughters of the house who just helped with our luggage and showed the... More

My husband and I stayed at Maison for two nights. It's an old house, nicely decorated with lots of art. It's perfectly located in the heart of the walled city. There is a parking on the site with no additional charge. We parked our car and didn't use it during our stay, because everything was within walking distance. Gita, the... More

Nothing but the kindest of words to our hosts Greg and Gitta. We really felt like royalty as guests in their home. It began at the door when we received our hand made knitted pontufs to walk about inside. The rooms are stunning and beautifully decorated authentically. Everything is in a traditional old style even the bathtub on its own... More

There is so much to say... Greg was a wonderful, attentive, friendly and informative host. The breakfasts were delicious. This B&B is full of neat antiques and books. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of everything. The room was comfortable and quiet. The antique tub and hand shower was a bit of a challenge to use. One of... More
