Overall this is a nice hostel but there are a couple of bad points too. Good: Clean and secure. Excellent breakfast of various bagels, toast, jams, cereals, bananas, tea and coffee (served until 1pm!) Good common area with TV, Macs, good wifi throughout hostel. Nice rooftop bar with views of city. Friendly, helpful staff. Bad: Our private room consisted of... More

Everything was lovely and clean and the breakfasts plentiful. There has obviously been some thought given to the room layout (I was in a 5 bed dorm) with the ensuite bathroom and separate entryway for the lockers however it was a bit tight with everyone's suitcases/packs, but we got there :). I believe I was fortunate as I was placed... More

I was somehow worried because, after travelling a lot, this was the first time I went in a hostel, and all by myself. My experience there was very positive. Each room has 6 beds and one washroom (which include a shower). Everything looked clean enough, though, and this is really important to me. Everybody in the hostel is really friendly,... More

This is a very clean hostel that rivals facilities of many hotels in the area and is a very affordable alternative when visiting Toronto. The staff are a mixture of young international college-aged people that make a great effort to talk to guests and manage a mid-size hostel (about 200 beds); the owner/manager also stops by for breakfast on some... A very good option for budget minded travellers in Toronto. The common areas are great, thea breakfast is really good for hostel standards and goes until 1pm! and the hostel is close to the bars of College Street, the funky neighbourhood of Kensington and Chinatown!

I stayed in a female 6 bed dorm, there was not enough space as these ladies had technically moved in and had their things everywhere, making it difficult for the staff to clean. They talked about how hard it was to find reasonable rent in TO. And one of these ladies stole $150 from my purse which was unpleasant to... More

My husband and I (we are in our 40's) decided to stay at this hostel because we used to stay at the one around the corner in Kensington Market (a very neat area of Toronto) but the other hostel has been going downhill for years..The Planet Traveler Hostel is fantastic, even for us older people...as the reviews say, it is... I've stayed in so many hostels in North America and in Europe; Planet Traveler is the best one so far. Great location, clean facilities, good breakfast selection, very friendly staff who actually took the time to give me the tour of the entire hostel, separate locker room at the entrance of each room (this is very smart, so that the... I've never stayed in a hostel... this place was clean, modern, and well located, right the Augusta entrance for the Kensington Market (Which is Toronto's cool hip open market.) The hotel is located on College avenue, near a convenient store that is open 24HR. the nearest intersection is Spadina a few blocks east..The staff here is very friendly and although... More
