Nestled up north on Cape Breton Island is a wonderful getaway for those looking to escape the bustle of the city. Janet and John are warm and engaging and made our stay a memorable one. There's lots of things to do if adventure is your thing or if relaxing is what you like, that's the place for you. The house... More

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Four Mile Beach Inn in July 2012 and had a fabulous time. This Inn is so "real" and Janet and John were truly great hosts - providing us with personalized recommendations for hiking, whale watching and other outdoor activities. The breakfasts were superb. We enjoyed every minute of our 3 day stay. I... More

We made a reservation here several months in advance and a day before arrival we got an email that they were closing and cancelling our reservation but called a local b & b on our behalf! This was not exceptable in an area where cell phones do not always work and internet is sketchy. Will never try to stay there... More

We deeply regret our cancellation of ths reservatiion. We had a very serious emergency family situation to deal with and had no option but to cancel. We would never do this under normal circumstances. As soon as we learned of the situation we contacted the intended visitors to let them know and made arrangements with another inn operator close by... More

Our three-night stay in September at Four-Mile Beach Inn proved to be a five-star experience for us in many ways. The inn, brimming with authentic Cape North general-store and domestic decor from other eras, is historic in the best sense of the word. Travelers who enjoy discovering the "feel" and memorabilia of local history as it was once lived will... More

I have found Trip Advisor a valuable resource during the past 10 years of travel and I have never written a bad review but I feel I would be doing a huge disservice to my fellow travelers if I did not post one now. After spending a considerable amount of time on the phone with Janet, while making my reservation,... More

From time to time a review like this is posted on Trip Advisor and baffles us as well. We are glad that the many other reviews on this site and in Frommer's and Fodor's Travel Guides are, for the most part, extremely positive. When people arrive at the inn after a long days drive they are many times very fatigued... More

It's too bad this is the only game in town...Upon entering the run-down,dark and dreary house the door stuck in its frame, the house was a collection of old furniture and what appeared to be junk that looked like it all belonged...I don't know where...To use the hostess' term--"ecclectic" but not in an inviting way. The whole house just looked... More

I am not sure if we did something to provoke such a review by this client but it is obvious that this client made the wrong choice to stay with us. We are sorry for that. We will try and respond to her points. Our house is an old one and we try to keep it that way. People have... More

We arrived at the FMB Inn on a chilly day filled with rain and dark clouds. Arriving about a half hour before the emailed designated check-in, we waited for the innkeepers to return. I have to admit our initial impression was skeptical. Through the dark front window of the general store, we saw a "taxidermed" red fox and an eclectic... More

We stayed for 2 nights and had a fantastic experience. The old converted general store was a great spot for us with tons of charm. The building is very well kept and we enjoyed spending our evenings playing cribbage in the games room. Breakfast was fantastic every day and included fresh baked goods. Our hosts kept a very nice balance... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Four Mile Beach Inn for one night during our 3-day visit to Cape Breton. This was our first time staying at a B&B, and we were very happy with our decision to stay here! The house was full of charming, rustic decor and had a spectacular library and games room.
