Being local to the area and having eaten at a number of local establishments as a family, we decided to visit the inn at grinshill to enjoy a family Sunday lunch. Having requested a table for two with a highchair, the member of staff looked somewhat bemused asking me if I had brought a highchair with me! Having stated that... More

This review is aptly entitled 'Unbelievable' we think. The author appeared last Sunday and asked for a high chair and a table even though we were fully booked. We have never in the ten years of being here supplied high chairs and despite this Sunday lunch is well known for being a 'Family Affair' here. Had the lady in question... More

As regular visitors to Shrewsbury a meal out with friends is always a high spot of the weekend. Each trip we tend to try different restaurants and feel 'safe' doing so as the standard of food in the area has, over recent years, become very high. On our last trip we tried the Inn at Grinshill as it was recommended... More

Just had a night at the Inn and wondered why we had left it so long since our last stay . From the minute we arrived to time of departure we were treated like old friends. Rooms warm, comfortable and above average in size and great bathrooms. Food top notch and catered for my wife - non meat eater. We've... More

Not a stranger to the inn, I will say the term inn is misleading. You have a country residence here that has a friendly bar with books and games and open fire and sofas. Full of charm, carries through by the staff and Vikki Brazier the owner. There is a choice of menus from a (a not so simple) sandwich,... More

Having got a baby sitter in to celebrate my wife's Birthday we were really looking forward to some posh nosh(two coverts in the Michelin guide). We had a long wait for someone to take our order with no explanation for the delay. We felt like we'd be forgotten. A shame as it marred what should have been a great evening.... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Day here. Nice laid back vibe but quietly organised. Delightful decorations.. Friendly staff. Chefs were treading on thin ice with their modern 'chefy' take on Christmas meal and pulled it off with full honours. We opted for the roasted white onion soup which was so delicious. The turkey main course was faultless - it was presented... More

Wouldn't go to this restaurant again. When we walked in we were not welcomed. We entered via the bar area and the woman behind the bar didn't even look at us, simply carried on talking to a couple of men she was engaged in conversation with. She eventually asked us what we wanted to drink but I got the general... More

We stayed here for 2 nights earlier this year. A lovely welcome was received from the reception staff. Room was cosy and well furnished. Evening meal was inventive and well served. A few good walks are accessible direct from the Inn. Would return.

We attended a wedding celebration here and the location was lovely. The Inn's service was super, very polite, friendly staff and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was delightful and it was a lovely intimate setting. The staff could not have provided a better experience for us. For a small wedding party the setting is perfect.

A few of us headed here on a Friday night for some food as we'd heard nothing but good things. We sat down and had a few drinks at the bar - The guest ales were faultless. After being shown to our seats we got stuck in to the three course a la carte menu, which was the reason we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Formerly a coaching Inn, our establishment today is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary décor. Its transformation began in 2001 when we bought it and over 18 months we set about a dramatic rebuild and restoration. Although many thought us foolhardy and overly ambitious, today, even much changed, the Inn evokes a sense of its own history. Above all else, we and our team work to ensure our guests enjoy the very best in hospitality. The Inn is a Grade 2 listed Georgian property, in a conservation area, located in the lee of Grinshill which is a site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a little train station in the next village which is a short stroll away, adding to the charm of this rural retreat. ... more   less
