The room was small but comfortable, the wifi didn't reach our room but was available downstairs in a nice hammock area, too bad it was impossible to stay outside for too long in the May heat. We didn't find the owners so extremely friendly as some reviews here said, but they were polite enough and the breakfast was good, though... More

Jan and Rosalinda are very, very nice. They are multi-linguists, with just about every language covered. This is a very, very basic bed and breakfast. There isn't a TV, telephone or blow dryer in the rooms. The breakfast is very comprehensive and changes daily. A hearty meal that holds you for hours. They are located a little too far from... More

My adult son and I spent the night at Casa Chalia on our way to Chuburna. We had a late night arrival which was absolutely no problem. Our room was simple and clean, with private bath and twin beds that was adjacent to the patio. If you are going to stay for an extended period of time, you might ask... More

We enjoyed our time at Casa Chalia. The rooms were very clean with fans and air conditioners for muggy nights. The hosts, Jan and Rosalinda, are very personable and helpful with whatever you need. The hostel is close to the bus station and to the Center of Merida – a good location. The hosts take pride in providing a nutritional... More

We had a overnight stay in Merida. Casa Chalia's owners were very friendly and helpful. Traditional Breakfast was yummy! The hotel was extremely close to a bus station and was enjoyable walk to the town centre. We went there on Sunday so the Square was full of people, fun and different souviers in the market.

We were surprised that the owners were Flemish and spoke Dutch. They helped us a lot as we were not good with Spanish. They were really helpful and friendly and told us a lot of the region, and their life stories. It's a pity that we only slept there one night. The breakfast is a super start for the day.... More

I spent one night here with my wife on our trip from Chiapas to the coast of Yucatan. This small family hotel was recommended by a friend who had visited Merida last summer. The best thing about Casa Chalia are the owners: both Jan and his wife are lovely. They allowed us to check in earlier, helped us while we... More

We stayed for 3 nights enjoyed our stay. The room was pretty basic but clean and we found breakfast to be quite hearty and more than enough to keep you going all morning. The owners were very friendly and helpful and a willing source for all local knowledge.

Theres no shortage of places to stay in Merida to suit all budgets but if your priorities are nice rooms and facilities, friendly owners and staff, and good value then look no further. a place close to the bus terminal and a 10 minutes walk to the central square. The rooms are small but clean. #1 reason to stay is the owners: Jan and Linda make you feel at home and are helpfull (good tips for stores and restaurants). #2 reason is the breakfast: it changes every day and is delicious! All in... More
