I had a pretty good stay in this hotel. The staff were very kind and helpful. The building is also a special one. More

Thank you for your accurate words. Our building is in fact unique and has a very interesting history. Originally, it hosted the “Portal de Mercaderes” back in 1529. Later it became the “Centro Mercantil”, a place where high-society families and very distinguished gentlemen usually went for shopping. This “Centro Mercantil” was the equivalent to malls from nowadays and was inaugurated... More

From the moment we arrived, the staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The building is amazing, a time warp but in a good way. Wonderful Tiffany ceiling and detailed Art Nouveau design. Our room (deluxe Queen) was spacious with a big bathroom and an excellent shower. Sadly the Terrace restaurant and bar was closed for refurbishment but we... More

From the airport, we arrived the Gran by taxi, dropped off in the street. We dragged our heavy suitcases up the entrances flight of steps to what looked like a deserted City Railway Station without any trains or railway lines. In the far diagonal corner through the merky light, sat the Porter, motionless. We got ourselves across to the Reception... More

Thank you for your sincere words. We are very sorry to know that you did not enjoyed our classical style. Since the hotel is placed in a historical building that is famous for its emblematic aspects like the stained glass ceiling and the panoramic elevators; a classic style and decoration are maintained in order to harmonize perfectly. As for the... More

We feel thankful for your kind words. It is always inspiring to know that our guests appreciate all the effort made by our colleagues to offer you the best service. We hope that you had the chance to hear the full story about the stained glass ceiling or the panoramic elevators. Our English-speaking Concierge or any other of our colleagues... More

At one time, this hotel was no doubt magnificent, but now it is showing some signs of needing updating as a number of things are a little too well worn. The housekeeping in my guest room was adequate, but not outstanding. That being said, there were a lot of good aspects. My room was spacious and quiet. The hotel location... More

I really enjoyed the Hotel. I appreciate every detail of the art neuveau. Just some things to upset: a little variety on the menu and the exorbitant cost of taxi given by the hotel. More

We are grateful for your comment, it is always nice to receive some feedback from our guests. About the variety of our menu, we would like to mention that in our restaurants we offer Mexican-International cuisine; in case you do not find anything appetizing to your palate, our Cheff will gladly serve you a special course prepared under your specific... We stayed here for one night on the first day of the New Year, 2012. Location wise it does not get any better than this, right on the Zocalo. The hotel is a bit of a tourist sight by itself with lots of tourists coming in the lobby to take pictures of the Tiffany inspired ceiling and the otherwise very... More

Thank you for your specific review. We are pleased to know that you liked our decoration as well as our facilities. We are constantly doing maintenance works in order to keep it as beautiful and classical as it is but always keeping in mind the modern needs of guests. Therefore, the hotel keeps a classical decoration but still satisfies the... More

Just 1/2 block from Mexico City's Zocalo (central plaza), the location of the hotel couldn't be better. The hotel decor is art nouveau with a BEAUTIFUL and huge stained glass lobby ceiling. The rooms are huge with a good queen sized, firm mattress. The Zolcalo is very busy all day long and during the evening hours. My fears of noise... More

Thank you for your kind words, it is a great satisfaction for us to know that you enjoyed so many key-aspects of the hotel such as the location, the rooms, the well-known Tiffany-Stained Glass Ceiling and of course, the warm service that characterize us. It is also good to know that you noticed that the rooms are not as noisy... More

I stayed at the Gran Hotel Cuidad de Mexico for four night's at the beginning of January in a Junior Suite. The hotel is lovely – exactly like the photos on the internet - with its two deco cage lifts and stunning stained glass and cast iron ceiling. There was birdsong echoing around the mezzanine as I walked to my... More
