I stayed at Casa Alebrijes for 3 nights in late January 2013 and had an excellent experience. The hotel is conveniently located near the center of the city, close to the main cathedral, major museums and plazas. The hotel occupies an older building that was recently fully renovated and tastefully decorated with local crafts and artwork (including, of course, many... More

There's not a lot to add except that this is a place I'd return to any time in GDL. Beautiful interior design and furniture, strong internet service, lots of attention to detail, good location for downtown walking, light but tasty breakfast, reasonable prices and a hospitable and knowledgeable innkeeper make me happy that I found this place. I have no... More

This hotel deserves all the praise it gets from travelers. From the outside it looks like nothing special, but once you open the door, you enter a surprising Oasis of comfort and charm. (Really, lots of charm and wonderful touches) Can highly recommend this hotel as great base to explore Guadalajara.

I agree with the reviewer that the outside of the building is nothing special and is not congruent with the interior of the building. I suspect that the exterior was modified years ago and I have found that in Mexico you often cannot judge by the exterior what waits inside. More

My friends and I travel a fair amount and found Casa Alebrijes to be one of our best experiences ever! I greatly enjoyed staying in this boutique hotel (it is a former residence that the owner has done a great job converting to a very nice gay hotel). There was a nice comfort level (the dining room is wonderful and... More

Regarding the Room Tip, Rooms 5 and 6 are the back patio rooms in a separate building. You can hear noise from the discoteques in these rooms on the weekends; however, if you are at the discoteques, you won't mind! The rooms listed in the hotel reservation sites and the other rooms in my website are in the main house... More

Walk in from the street by way of a secure metal door - and it's almost like taking a step back in time. Details subscribed to old world colonial charm is obvious, coupled with all the modern amenities one expects sets this hotel apart from many others. The gracious and welcoming greeting by the host/owner John is equally refreshing. Great location,... More

In the middle of a 3-week vacation, I decided I wanted to go to Guadalajara. With less than 48 hours warning, I emailed the hotel to ask about availability. Luckily for me, there was a vacancy. I was pleasantly surprised. Behind the terra cotta colored, exterior door exists a well-decorated, safe, clean, and friendly hotel. John, the owner/manager spent a... More
