I love to stay at the gingerbread house because it truly feels like a place where I can relax after a long day work. I can also enjoy the downtown urban environment by foot, plenty of places to eat or just to sit and have a drink. When everything is said and done I can retreat back to the beautifully... More

We spent two delightful weeks at Gingerbread and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect from the exquisite architecture to the comfortable beds. Walk a block towards the sea and you can catch a taxi to Independence Square. Walk two blocks the other way and you come to Aripita Ave with all the cuisine one could ask for. Five Star dining to party... More

The gingerbread house was nearly perfect. It was immaculately clean, lovely room and even better bathroom, close to "the avenue" with its restaurants and bars and the owners were very helpful in telling us where to go wind how to get there using Trinidad's incredibly confusing system of "route taxis". Great value too at usd70. The only downside was that... More

This beautifully renovated 'gingerbread' house is a gem and very good value. The friendly owners, Rosemary and Bernard, have obviously gone to great lengths to return it to its former glory and the high-ceilinged rooms are cool, clean and comfortable - a welcome break from the hot and dusty city outside. The verandah with its hanging fern baskets is a... More

We stayed here for a week, and it was a really lovely and relaxing place to stay - Port of Spain is not a particularly relaxing city, so it was wonderful to come back to such a nice place. It is a guest house rather than an expensive hotel, but this is part of its charm. It was also extremely... More

Seventy dollars doesn't get you much in a capital city most days. Certainly not a character-ladened, high-ceiling, historic yet modern inn. This was an exception. Rosemary is scattered, and I say that with affinity and affection as she's decent, honest and genuine. Her daughter's pleasant as well. We stayed in the newer annex, by the surprisingly comfortable deck and plunge... More

we had a week at this lovely guest house. The house itself has wonderful character both inside and out. Our room like the rest of the house was clean and light. The only downside was an outside air conditioner was rather noisy. Rosemary was a fantastic host and came up with different local home dishes for breakfast. Thoroughly recommended

Stayed here for two weeks while I was in town for business. We had a spacious and private room with our own patio off the back and also enjoyed the backyard garden and pool. The place feels safe and secure - we had our own alarm system for the evenings. Rosy was a great hostess (she even got up at... More

An extremely interestingly renovated 1920 house with its beautiful ornate decor leading right through to the garden at the back with its own splash pool. This is a truly unusual but special place to stay and in my view this should be voted as the No.1 place to stay in the heart of Trinidad. It is situated just off Ariapita... More

We were in Trinidad to watch the Aussies take on the West Indies in a Cricket Test match in April 2012. Gingerbread House is located 10 minutes walk to Queens Park Oval. The place is lovely, a restored 1920 home with 4 rooms to rent. Perfectly located close to restaurants, cafes, bars in Woodbrook. Rosemary is the perfect host dishing... More
