We had high expectations after reading the other great recommendations and we definitely weren't disappointed. Or room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The location was spot on and Carol was the perfect hostess. Breakfast was delicious too - we didn't need to eat for the rest of the day (but we did anyway :-)). We'll definitely be returning and would... More

A lovely welcome from the host Carol...away from the bustle of York. Extremely clean room views to the open fields at the back... Carol recommended a lovely place to eat, which we did, and suggested some nice walks in the fields near the cottage. Breakfast was fantastic will be returning!

Stayed for one night whilst travelling back from Edinburgh. Lovely location, just a short drive from centre of York. Very clean, comfortable and spacious room. Service was excellent as was the breakfast served. Will definitely be booking again when we visit York again. Felt very welcome from the moment we arrived to when we left.

We had a very warm welcome from Carol who presented us with tea and cake on arrival which we had in the beautiful garden with views of open countryside. We had a four poster room which was lovely, decorated beautifully and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. The... More

What a lovely place to stay! Beautiful cottage and surrounding area. Warm welcome, gorgeous room and excellent breakfast. Perfect in location for us between York and the coast where we were headed. Thank you so much.

This was my second time staying at this beautiful B&B, and I'm glad I went back! The room was beautiful, we stayed in the four poster bed on the ground floor. It is beautifully kept, very spacious and spotlessly clean. The lady who owns it is really lovely, even keeping her cool with some other guests staying at the same... More

We had a problem acquiring accommodation in York due to a winter festival so had to settle for a property some miles outside the city. The room was OK but the heaters turned off during the night and we nearly froze. The distance from the city means that you absolutely need a car to travel about. The hostess is attentive,... More

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at Claxton Hall Cottage. It was truly wonderful! A beautiful building in a beautiful rural location. Our room was spotlessly clean with one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. Our host Carol made us feel so welcome and at home - she is not only friendly but also a... More

Recently returned from a 2 night stay at claxton hall. Carol gave us a very warm welcome, with allowing us to drop our luggage off early into our room, before the 4pm check in. As our day was planned for a trip up to pickering for the wwii weekend, this saved us from having to drive back down, later on,... More
