You will not be disappointed if you stay at The Maples Hotel. Shirley and Godfrey are fabulous hosts. Their genuine concern for your satisfaction is outstanding. When we checked in to our room for the night it was late afternoon and Shirley made us a lovely pot of tea. Shirley served us tea and cookies in our room. It was... More

I felt welcome even as I telephoned to enquire about availability. I hadn’t read or been influenced by any other reviews so I was even more delighted upon my arrival to be greeted almost as an old friend. My room was immaculately clean and the bed unbelievably comfortable. One word of warning though – for those watching the calories, the... More

It is a mistake if you don't come here while in Southampton before embarkation or disembarkation. Shirley and Godfrey are wonderful host and hostess. They make you feel at home. Am so happy we came here. Mahalo Godfrey and Shirley. Aloha

I stay in hotels two or three nights a week but very few offer such a warm welcome and truly splendid breakfast. The blueberries and raspberries were the best I have tasted in years. Keep up the great work and enjoy your holiday!

I read in previous reviews that you were treated like family at this hotel. This is certainly true and nothing seems too much trouble for Shirley and Godfrey. My daughter and I had 2 single rooms and in theory shared a bathroom but we never encountered anyone else wanting to use the facilities. While the rooms were small, they were cosy,... More

Enjoyed a 3 night stay there last week and enjoyed every minute. Room great, bed very comfortable and the ensuite excellent. Breakfast fantastic with plenty of choice from healthy to the full English which is out this world. Also Godfrey and Shirley make you feel so welcome

A huge welcome again from Shirley and Godfrey, the best double-act in the business! Sadly, only one night this time but the most comfortable bed possible and instantaneously feeling at home. Amazing breakfast with all top quality, fresh ingredients which would put many umpteen starred hotels to shame. Coupled with Godfrey's ongoing 'humourous' commentary and Shirleys bubbly personality, what more... More

Even though it was our first time, Godfey and Shirley treated us like one of the family. Breafast to die for and the bed ( Queen size? ) was so comfortable. Godfey makes you laugh and Shirley treats you like a daughter. We will be back in Summer to enjoy again their 1st Class hospitality. They deserve 5 stars for... More
