Sunset campground is conveniently located to visit both parks. We enjoyed a great day trip to King's Canyon & Boyden Cave on one day, Moro Rock and Giant Forest on the second day and Big Stump/ swimming at Sandy Cove, Hume Lake on the third day. All of which we recommend. I especially appreciated that we could show up without... More

Arrived around 1 PM on July 12th and found Azalea was pretty full so headed over to Sunset. First off we were tent camping, no trailer or RV so I can't speak to that aspect. Azalea seemed like it has few great spots (of course all taken), and the rest were crammed together - NO THANK YOU. Instead, we found... More

After reading reviews from this site I figured I would stay here for a few nights in my most recent visit to Sequioa NP. The location is great (Not too far from the main entrance) and in close proximity to Grant Grove Village. We visited in June 2011 and there were definately bear proof boxes (very large) at each campsite.... More

Sunset is an alright campground. It's attractive enough and shady. The elevation makes for nice summer days (August). The nights even have a bit of chill to them. Everyone was respectful of others on our trip. We had zero people-related problems. The bathrooms were clean and plentiful. There was never a line. And the campsite is located close to the... More

Okay, so here is the deal. Normally the campgrounds in Kings are nice and I would recommend them to everyone. Last night we stayed at sunset and around 1am a large group of drunk and very loud young adults decided to move in right across from our camp site. Party ended around 5am. After sunrise, we decided to end our... More

I'm so glad I read the reviews on Trip Advisor prior to our trip to Kings Canyon/Sequoia Nat'l Parks. My husband was thinking of camping at a different campground, but I read so many favorable reveiws on here. Sunset is right inside the park entrance, so we were able to get in and set up before driving the winding roads... More

My wife and I decided to go on a last minute camping trip for the 4th of july weekend. We loaded up our camping gear and two dogs and headed to the sequoia national park. We wanted to get away from the city and into a forest sourounded with trees. We had never been camping there but we heard it... More

A group of us stayed in campsites #38 and #40 (right next to #37 as described in another review which directed us to this great location!) There are 4 campsites along the ridge towards the back of Sunset Campground, superb location! We arrived on an early Friday afternoon and lucked out with these two spots. The sunsets are amazing, it... More

Excellent does not say it adequately. Not within a Texas Mile or more. This is a superb CG and it runs right to the ridge overlooking Sequoia Lake below. If you read my previous review for Azalea CG, next door, my wife and I spent 110 days in the Sequoia--KC complex. We stayed the vast majority in Sunset and of... More
