The hotel itself is what you'd expect in a National Park. It's fairly outdated with a slight musty odor. That being said, the accommodations were fine. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food was plentiful and decent. The highlight was the guided cave tour in the park. We took the Violet Lantern tour with Ranger Rick - master storyteller... More

We discovered the accommodations at Mammoth Cave when we went to the cave but now when we travel near that route we always try to time our overnight stay here. That way our dollars are helping a national park and not a chain. The Sunset rooms are our favorite... every time we've stayed there, we've had deer right outside our... More

The hotel obviously is in a great location with ready access to the trails and the caves. Other than location, there's nothing else exceptional to report. The staff was friendly and the lobby has wifi. We stayed on the second floor in a small room with a king size bed which was comfortable. No elevators are available and there are... More

Don't book here if you have any expectations that this hotel is one cut above an outdoor camp site. The place was OK for a really cheap motel that I would pay $29 a night to stay in but over $100 a night what a rip off. The room walls were paper thin since we had an inconsiderate neighbour that... If you're expecting a posh modern hotel room with wireless internet and 15 different soaps to pick from, don't stay here. I stayed in the sunset terrace rooms, which were two full beds a mini fridge and bathroom. The walls were thin, the decor outdated and the toilet leaked. However, the room was cleaned daily, the hotel staff freindly, and... More

Birchymm: Thank you for the great things you said about our lodging facilities located in scenic Mammoth Cave National Park. As a concessionaire within the park we have to comply with the National Park Service rules and regulations. That being said, the National Park Service, reasonably, wants the visitors to enjoy the wonders and beauty of the park and wish... More

Then lodge is old, rooms are very small, but clean and convenient to the Park's Tours and Visitor Center. There are no dryers in the rooms, however they are available on request. We ate at the Travertine Restaurant and Crystal Cafe. Both were adequate but nothing to rave about. Howeve the cave and tours are fantastic and wonderful to explore.

I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Mammoth Cave National Park in at our lodging facilities. We strive to accommodate our guests with "Good Ole Southern Hospitality". Therefore, I was a little disappointed that our food items were mediocre. I will pass this on to our Food Service Manager. I will also let the National Park Service... More

Very limited items in the food menu in the cafeteria. Perfect location right next to the visitors center. Nice if there is a microwave in the room. Wifi did not work. Limited channels on tv, then again it it a national park. Overall nice stay.

Dear Samusa: I want to thank you immensely for your comment on March 14, 2013, and apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I would like to explain the limited food items and television networks. The time of year you all were here is our transition period from winter to spring. We have changed to our new and current... We stayed in the main hotel prior to doing the wild cave tour. The price is right, and the room had everything we needed. Not musty at all, everything was very clean. The walls are a little thin, so we could hear our neighbor talking and (later) snoring, but turned up the heater fan and had no trouble sleeping. I... More

The price was quite reasonable - and the room was nicer than we expected. Big comfortable bed. Not spacious but had everything we needed. No wifi which would have been nice but we were in a National Park. Stay busy in the park all day and you definitely appreciate a warm room and good bed. The building with the lodge... More

The best part of this hotel is its location--so close to the cave! The price also isn't bad, and the room was comfortable. The restaurants are limited in their selections, but my husband and I were grateful that something was closeby.
