Liked being able to book an RV pull-thru site in advance. Called ahead to let them know we would be late driving in from Grand Canyon. Woman was very friendly and told me to come to the Nature Center and grab a site map when we arrived. Was pitch black when we arrived (great for stargazing!). Broken pavement on way... More

I've been to Joshua Tree on many occasions but this was my first time in this part of the park. Black Rock is easy to get to but expect a very bumpy road right before you get to the campgrounds and inside the loops. The campgrounds are basic with a picnic table and fire pit. Not too much space in between... More

Great campsite with big pitches (some more level than others), fire pits and picnic benches. There is very little shade so an awning is essential. The facilities were clean with the bonus of flushing loos. The rangers were very helpful when we checked in but there was no sign of them on Saturday night when people were partying at 4... More

drove in with four friends and stayed two nights in spot 30. its the top of the grounds and pretty much isolated, during the day it is the head to the Black Rock Canyon Trail that branches the rest of the trails so you'll probably have travelers passing through regularly. we were there late may and midweek and the grounds... We camped here in a tent in late March 2012, during spring break season. We liked that the campground had water and took reservations. Those things made it a good choice for us. I'd have to agree with some of the other reviews, however, that it isn't the cleanest or best kept public campground we've seen. We camped for five... More

While Black Rock Canyon is located within the boundaries of Joshua Tree, it is a campground on the outskirts of town (Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree). You will drive through a residential neighborhood on your way to the campsites entrance. The benefits of this campground are that you can #1,make a reservation and #2, it accommodate RVs and trailers. If... More

This campsite accommodates both tenters and trailer folk. There are pretty restrictive hours of when people can run their generators, which is great for us tenters but may seem restrictive to those in trailers. The grounds have many shrubs and Joshua trees (for the area…it is a desert) which helps with privacy and offers some shade. It was $15/site/night and... More

I don't want to disclose my exact # site, in fear that when i come back, it will be taken. But lets just say it was on top of a hill overlooking the grounds faced towards the moon. Man, what a site. The ranger was extremely helpful when I checked in. She recommended us do a panaromic 6.6 mile hike... More

We just got back from spending the weekend on this campground with a group from our church. We got there on Friday afternoon and set up camp. The campground is clean and what I found best was the fact that our site was rather flat. I very much dislike sleeping on an incline. The rangers were friendly. There is a... More

Im up at 1230am writing this review specifically because of my terrible experience here. This is not the place to go if you want to "get away from it all" or appreciate nature. It's very hard to appreciate nature when the idiots in the campsite 50 feet away are here to appreciate a cheap ($15 a night) place to drink... More
