I don't know what hotel other reviewers stayed as it doesn't appear to be the same over priced $350.00 + for a room, featureless place we were at. As Hawaii's # 1 visitor attraction, located spectacularly at the edge of an active volcano, come on, surely the new owners could have done better then this. If, like me, you were... More

A fun place to stay for one night for something different than the resorts in and around Kona. Our room had a great view of the crater, which glowed when the sun went down. The room was very clean and comfortable. Free internet but no TV. We ate at The Rim restaurant in the hotel for dinner and breakfast. The... More

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by spending 2 days at Volcanoes National Park, spending the night at the newly reopened Volcano House. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms (not sure if this is the official name) with a 2nd floor view of the crater. Really liked the updated bedroom furnishings. The bathroom is tight (it's an... More

We ate dinner in the main dining hall in the last week of May. I would recommend a reservation if you want to sit by the window that faces Kilauea. But out of the 10-12 tables, only the first two have a decent view of the glow. All of the other tables have some kind of obstruction like a tree.... More

The cabins are nearly scary. Yes, they are on the Big Island but they are just a place to sleep. No one else was there but me and I did not feel safe. Way too dark and out of sight. I listened to "Coast to Coast" all night which did not help. Not recommended if you are alone.

I normally try to give people in the service industry the benefit of the doubt...however since so many customers were obviously upset by the horrendous service at Uncle George Lounge, I felt I should contribute my comments. I was not able to find Uncle George Lounge on Trip Advisor to rate directly but they are part of the Volcano House... More

My husband and I read about the "pardon our dust" special and decided to book the newly renovated hotel for our 15th wedding anniversary getaway. My first visit to Volcano House was back in the 80′s, when Mauna Loa was erupting and I checked in after three days’ hike to the summit and back. The room and the food were... More

We spent two memorable nights in Room 31, an end unit, which had a great view of the smoldering caldera. As with other hotels we've stayed in within the National Parks such as the crater rim cabins on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the ability to enjoy spectacular scenery at different times of the day or night and... We stayed at the Volcano House for one night whilst we explored the various craters in the area. The hotel was a good way through a thorough refurbishment so there was sadly no bar or restaurant available and some of the rooms were not finished. We stayed in a crater view room and the name is entirely appropriate. The view... More

Firstly, I didn't stay here, just came to browse the gift shop and grab some food. The location is amazing, so if you want to stay somewhere that overlooks the crater, this is awesome. It appears rustic and I don't know what I would expect room wise, but they're undergoing renovations so maybe that includes some updating and upgrading. Still...location.... More
