Arrived at check-in at the El Tovar (a bit pretentious we thought) to be told that the car park at the Kachina would now be full, the car park here at the El Tovar was full and we would have to use their overflow (stone and rubble) car park and drag all our suitcases, bags, shoes etc along the road... We stayed here for a couple of nights in June. It was hot, so it was nice the hotel had a cooling system (but it's not exactly air conditioning per the reservation agent). Like many lodgings in the national parks, you pay for location and usually get something rather out of date. These rooms were probably more updated than many... More

Sure it's a pretty picture, a hotel right on the Grand Canyon rim, but this hotel has a rotten twist. Firstly, limited elevator space makes moving suitcases a difficult task. Inside the room the tiny bathroom is positioned very awkwardly behind the room door. The bathroom is old and cramped. The beverage making area was hazardous, and windows could have... More

We were happy to get 2 rooms in the park at the last minute due to a cancellation. We were not expecting much as to quality, etc. What a nice surprise we had when we checked into the Kachina. Our rooms were recently updated and very comfortable. Very comfortable mattresses. Showers were strong with plenty of hot water. Nice flat... More

We spent 2 nights here last week and had a room with a great view of the canyon. Room was clean and a decent size. Bathroom was small but adequate. We have been travelling self- catering for several weeks so were disappointed there was no freezer in the frig both for our bits and pieces and also to freeze bottles... More

Stayed here for one night and by unanimous vote the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 week roadtrip in the Southwest. Rooms were clean, modern, and having a Keurig was a bonus. Instead of the usual mini toiletries, they have pump bottles for shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and shower gel. We were on the first floor so I bet... More

Stunning views of the Grand Canyon, seconds from the room; we, unfortunately, had a room overlooking the car park but as we spent so little time in the room it did not detract from our stay. We spent one night at Kachina Lodge in the accommodation block, which was fortunate, as the room and gloomy. The bathroom was on the... More

The best thing about the lodge is its location. It is located directly facing the Rim. Be sure to ask for a room with views. When you walked out of the Lodge, the scenic Grand Canyon is in front of you! That's amazing! At night, the stars are really sparking and lit up the whole sky! You might even catch... More

This propery is situated overlooking the Grand Canyon. However, be aware that not all rooms have a Canyon view. Odd numbers do . Even numbered rooms overllook the parking lot! We were fortunate and had a room with a view, To be right there at the park is truly spectacular. Rooms are basic. Bathroom small. There are no restaurant facilities... More

Went to Grand Canyon with a reservation at Yavapai but I really wanted to stay at El Tovar. A friend had told me to go to the El Tovar desk when I arrived and maybe I could change the reservation. El Tovar was still full but they did let us switch to their other building, Kachina Lodge. We had a... More
