We originally booked 2 nights at site 74 on Fir Loop, and extended for another night. We were hoping that Fir loop meant lots of fir trees & soft needles on the ground. Unfortunately, the ground was hard and rocky. Even after moving the large rocks, we were using all the bedding/clothing we could find to make sleeping on the... More

We stayed 3 nights at this campground (Site 313 - somewhat rocky for a tent) in May, 2013. Check in at the Ranger Station was very fast and efficient. We originally reserved for 5 nights but told the Ranger our change in plans and were immediately given a refund for the other 2 nights. I suggest asking at check in... More

We stayed in May 2012 for one night. Our site was spacious, with two different areas to choose from to put our tent. Check-in was easy. The bathhouse has very nice showers for a fee. Be sure to make reservations well ahead of time; at check-in we saw an RV full of people turned away because they had no reservations.... More

Great plot with lots of space. Our plot was situated under trees so was shady in early morning sun. Each plot has a firepit and a large picnic table. There are plentiful bathrooms, which are very clean. The showers cost $2 and last for 8 minutes and were a bit of a walk being next to the main reception area.... More

We had lot 19 right next to the bathrooms. It was very nice. We arrived an hour before sunset . It was national park week so we didn't have to pay the $25 entrance fee. As we entered the rangers gave us maps and the spring newsletter with up to date info. The Mather Camp office was closed, but a... More

Stayed at this campground for two nights in mid-April. We drove in from Vegas and arrived after 6PM. Since the agent at the booth was gone for the day, we found our name and assigned campground on a list, and we had to check in the next day so they knew that we were not no-shows. My husband and I... Nice, rustic, lots of trees with elk coming right through camp. We arrived at 4:45pm mid-week of Spring Break and had no line or issue checking in - very easy and friendly! Paved bike trail right near our site was great to get to Grand Cyn Visitor Center area. Easy walk to grocery store and shuttle. Clean showers and laundry... More

I loved this campsite! The nightly rate is very reasonable, it is very close to the visitor center and the Grand Canyon itself, and there are free shuttles that take you around the property! My husband and I did tent camping and had plenty of room on our site. A couple of things to note for those who have not... More

I have a 24 foot 5th wheelth a long bed P/U truck. I had to choose in advance to go to Mather or to trailer villiage sight unseen. I chose Mather, it was a grreat choce. My st up BARELY fit into the spot, you can reserve spots ahead of time and like they recommend 5th wheels should only use... More

The location of this campground is excellent. Grocery stores are within walking distance in case you need firewood or food, and the South Rim is also an easy 10 minute walk away. The sites themselves are not outstanding, but certainly not bad either. They are not quite as secluded as I had hoped (I could hear a lot of noise... More
