We spent 5 days in Mirissa. This was the most beautiful place in Sri Lanka that we stayed at. It is very comfortable and peaceful. The owner Kousun is very kind and his family is very nice, it was very interesting to watch the Sri Lankan family in their normal day and see how they live. The guesthouse is very... More

We stayed for 4 nights and it was one of the best accomodation on our 3 weeks trip. Owner is very king and helpful. We had clean room with A/C for 3000 rupies/1 night. Free wi-fi, free parking. It's definitely place where you want to stay more than 1 night. Breakfast for 400 rupies/person. The beautiful beach with many great... More

We stayed here for 2 nights but could definitely have stayed more! The owners are warm and welcoming, and they have 2 beautiful children if you fancy a game of tig! The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the main surf break and the owner surfs so is able to give advice on spots too. The rooms are spacious and... More

After 8 hours of Travelling we called up the owner and he booked a room for us.. The room was clean but when thought of getting some fresh air from the balcony it was so dirty with all the hair lying on the floor... well that's not a major problem... the real problem starts as I entered the bathroom the... A lovely little homely place, clean and comfortable. Kasun's mantra is 'no problem' and nothing is. His family is delightful, from his beautiful wife and delightful kids and his mother who makes lace if you wander back in the afternoon her sure hands are creating such beauty. I stayed a week and would have loved to stay longer. Being set... More

This is our second stay at Calidan and Kasun and his family were just as welcoming as our first visit. He has now installed AC in three of the five rooms and has plans to install solar hot water. The rooms are basic and very clean with the upstairs rooms having a balcony to sit out on and admire the... More

Calidan is very small with only a few rooms, but rooms are perfectly clean if basic. We stayed in low season but this was so much cheaper than all other stays in the area. The included breakfast was large and varied, and very tasty! The brother of the owner also gave us discounted surf lessons. The owner drove us around... More

Nice family run place. I stayed there twice, first time in January 2011 and second time in July 2012. Good breakfast, close enough to the beach, but without disturbing music or any kind of hassle. Recommend it!

We stayed at Calidan for about 12 days in jan/feb this year. The location is great....50 yards from the beach and surf break in Mirissa. Kasun the owner and his wife are great. Really helpful but not intrusive - he can help you organize anything you like - tuk tuk, surf boards etc. Rooms (we stayed upstairs) are basic but... More
