Had a great weekend at The Strand. The staff were welcoming and the food was tasty - with a nod to the 70`s- haven't had chicken vol au vonts for years, but they were lovely. The room was spotless and very comfortable with really comfy beds - slept really well. Will definitely be back.

Recommend the Strand Hotel as a great base to see the spectacular scenery of the Inishowen Peninsula. Hotel is right in the middle of Ballyliffin with short walk to beach. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and shower is great. Food and drink very reasonably priced. Only downfall is lack of WIFI outside main reception area. Overall great value hotel.

if you want somewhere to relax and chill out then this place is for you near a local golf course, beach and friendly staff where money goes further than you think. Food is superb I have attended a few weddings, anniversaries etc. so its no joke I even took on the Doherty name that is how good it is.....as they... More

Contrary to previous reviews this hotel provides quality food with great portions at affordable prices.I have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The hotel itself is very welcoming and the staff are very friendly and all have been with the hotel for a long time and seem to be very happy in their... More

Myself and my girlfriend went to the strand hotel up in ballyliffin just before Christmas 2012, although we both enjoyed our visit to donegal and inishowen, the hotel was pretty much a glorified hostel. The bed was small and uncomfortable, the decor was from the 1950s, the tv was similar to one I had in the early 90s in my... More

Stayed here for 2 nights while attending a wedding in the hotel next door. Weather was miserable but the scenery and views in the area are spectacular and they alone make going to Donegal worthwhile. The Strand hotel is in a great location, half-mile up the road from Pollan beach which is a lovely walk. Parking is free and easy... More

This hotel is over 100 years. Very popular with the golfers. We found we got absolutely great value for money. Though the decor is very dated it is absolutely spotless. The staff cant do enough for you, The food is delicious. Breakfast was very warm and welcoming. Dinner was very reasonable. Two course for just 11 euro. Janine the bar... More

We had a 2 night stay in this hotel recently and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, the staff, the food and the area. When we arrived we had a choice of 2 rooms, one with a seaview (old part of hotel) and one in the new part of the hotel. The seaview room was as stated in the old part of... More

Booked this hotel through a groupon deal. We really enjoyed our stay. We couldn't really go out much as it was the weekend of the bad snow but we enjoyed our room on second floor, very spacious and gorgeous bath in our room. Food was absolutely gorgeous, would definitely recommend the lumpy bumpy cake it was amazing! Only complaint we... More
