My parents have stayed with Josephine and Charlie several times. Serving as their chauffeur for over 1800 miles, this was my first visit with them to Ireland and my first time staying with Josephine and Charlie. Needless to say it was all my parents promised it would be! I had an absolutely beautiful room with my own petite sunroom. The... More

Our host Josephine greeted our late evening arrival with the kind offer of tea. When I called to let her know we would be arriving late, she recommended a few restaurants for dinner on our way. The room was very romantic, with a canopy over the bed and ivy peeking in the windows. Bathroom was spotless. We had coffee and... More

We spent 5 nights a this Outstanding home. Josephine and Charlie are wonderful hosts whose knowledge of the area including what sights to visit, and where to dine with detailed directions was great. The home is lovely as described in other reviews and the food is fresh and delicious however; what makes a stay memorable are the hosts, and Josephine... More

We stayed at Mount Royd for 4 days in August 2011. The B & B is beautiful and very comfortable. The rooms were very nice with baths attached. Charles and Josephine were friendly and helpful. Josephine was an amazing hostess. She provided detailed directions each day (with handwritten maps) for the locations we wanted to visit. The breakfast was one... More

Josephine was an extremely friendly hostess. We were lost in the district and with patience and after several calls she guided us to Mount Royd. We were greeted with a generous home made afternoon tea fit for royalty and shown to our room, quite a beautifully appointed and decorated room (a fraction too scented for mere male) with a lovely... Josephine is very friendly, she takes time to explain where to go, where to eat ; she can book a restaurant for you. It was a lovely stay (2 nights). The breakfast is entierely home-made (bread, jam, scones ...). I't's delicious. The house is very clean. We recommend it. Isabelle and Vincent from France More

Cannot recommend this beautiful B & B highly enough. Stunning surroundings, beautiful rooms, delicous breakfast with home-baking and the warmest of Irish welcomes. Josephine could not have done more for us. We even got toast and freshly brewed coffee in the afternoon. We were thoroughly spoiled and looked after from beggining to end - from helpful directions to recommendations for... More

From the beginning on the lady of the house was really unfriendly towards us. We apparently arrived too early (4pm) since nobody was home. After half an hour a car arrived. One lady got out of the car and went straight in the house. I went over there to talk to the second lady, who appeared to be Josephine, the... More

My wife has been at the Mount Royd Country Home 14 years ago and was delighted. Since we drove through Ireland in May 2011, she wanted to show me this place too - and it is still phantastic! The beakfast with Salmon - delicious! The Landlords are so friendly, thank you for treating us! Mark and Sabine from Switzerland More

We recently spent 4 wonderful nights at the Mount Royd B&B! This B&B is even prettier than it shows in the pictures and when you add the absolutely great treatment you receive from Josephine, a super Inn Keeper, it’s the perfect place to stay! We had a lovely and very romantic room overlooking the picturesque gardens. The lounge was cozy... More
