If you've ever fantasized about spending time in an unbelievably charming and picturesque village, Puycelsi is the place to go. L'Ancienne Auberge provides spacious, comfortable rooms and some of the best food in France, using local recipes and ingredients. Our room overlooked a village square that might be the setting for an opera. We could watch villagers emerge from the... More

Chef Dorothy, an American, rents several wonderful rooms in this delightful medieval village, in addition to preparing celebrated meals. The property is indeed ancient and beautifully restored in the public areas, while the sleeping rooms are new, spacious, tasteful and uptodate in all respects. We'll long remember both Puycelci and the hospitality of the Ancienne Auberge.

In the beautiful and peaceful place, this hotel is really recommended. We had breakfast in the morning and we had diner in hotel. The bistro menu is really nice, with good quality food. Also the waiter recommended nice local wine. The staff is very friendly and very relaxed.

We spent a week in this wonderful medival town. We were able to rent a 2 bedroom apartment that is owned by the hotel. It was beautiful, nicely appointed and had a stellar view of the wonderful countryside. The hotel restaraunt is one of the best we have visited and the owners are welcoming and gracious. The town is located... More

The Ancienne Auberge is located in the impossibly quaint fortified hilltop village of Puycelci.  The inn contains less than ten rooms and is partially built into a 13th century presbytery. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished. We stayed in room 5 on the top floor (there aren't any elevators!) which has very large windows wrapping around two sides which... More

We recently came upon this beautiful little town of Puycelsi by accident. This town and this auberge is calm and quiet, very relaxed. A great place to get away for a few days. The auberge is in the middle of the town across from the small old church. Our room on the top floor (#5) had beautiful views overlooking the... More

We stayed here for two nights and had a lovely time. The food is amazing (the owner/chef, Dorothy, and her cook, Jean-Denis, produce the most wonderful meals made with fresh ingredients). The foie-gras is wonderful. The little village of Puycelsi is lovely and quiet. If you are looking to relax and disconnect from the hubub of everyday life, this is... More

My wife and I had the good fortune to stay at L'Ancienne Auberge in Puycelci, France. This hotel is truly a gem in a town so quaint and small and interesting that it defies imagination. Dorothy Alexander, a transplant from USA, is one educated and intelligent chef/owner who whips up food with the passion of an savant who deals in... More

Service excellent in reception and restaurant. Food well presented but not special except for the desserts, which were excellent and innovative. Breakfast was not good - reheated frozen brioche and insipid fruit juice - not available before 8.30. Chef did not seem happy, probable due to staff shortage in the kitchen! Comfortable bed, excellent bathroom.
