We recently spent an unexpected night at Villa de Tacvnga in Latacunga. We had just been to the rainforest near Tena and had planned to travel on to Papallacta, but we learned that a bridge was out on that route, so we had to rearrange our plans and travel back to Quito the long way around (via Banos, Ambato, and... This is a nice colonial hotel in a nice city, very well located, clean but a bit small rooms. Good breakfast and very friendly staff. As most things in Ecuador, good value for money. We had a room on the 2nd floor, think 2nd and 3rd are the best.

We visited this hotel 2 weeks ago, and right from the start, the friendliness of the family who owned it came to the fore. The rooms are very well looked after, some overlooking a small courtyard, and very clean. There is a larger interior covered courtyard which is also used for functions, weddings etc. It is also a perfect base... More

I cannot complain because I got upgraded to a suite. The room was pretty awesome. The gentleman at the reception, in spite of the communication barrier was extremely helpful in guiding me about the bus schedule for the Quilotoa loop.

This was our worst stay in Ecuador. We checked in here, finding a pretty courtyard and a pleasant little room. We had a very early morning trip to hike around Quilotoa, so we got ready to go to bed around 10 pm. Right as we turned out the light, a huge thumping started. The adjoining restaurant was having an enormous,... More

We stayed for 1 night at the first floor and were not impressed at all. The setting is nice but the rooms are nothing special. Because of the rates I expected a lot more! The restaurant is kind of a joke. They serve you if it's a star restaurant, but the food is poor quality. What was really nice but... More

I have heard about laticunga from many people so really wanted to check it out, it is near Cotopaxi and Quilatoa loop which are both very special so it was a perfect place to stay. They are very nice people, and keep a clean place. It was vey nice to come home to after a big day hiking or exploring... More

We stayed here two nights, using Latacunga as a base for day trips to Quilotoa and Cotopaxi. The first night four of us had two first floor rooms, with windows onto the central courtyard. The second night three of us stayed on the top floor in a triple (the other headed off to Quito). The double rooms were clean, quiet,... More

We are a family of four, traveling through Ecuador with two children ages 6 and 9. Upon arriving in Latacunga, we originally went to Hostal Tiana, the Lonely Planet recommended hotel. However, we left after one night and sought out Villa de Tacvnga. It seemed maybe it would be too nice for us, too expensive, but that was not the... More

We traveled to Latacunga to participate in the Mama Negra festival. The operative word being "participate". No one, particularly a tourist, is allowed to just watch. The hotel's central location: 100 meters from the main plaza, and in close proximity to parade route made it a perfect choice for the festivities. It is also close to all sorts of shopping... More
