I visited the Casa de Canilhas in June 2013 as I was traveling by myself. I had arrived at a paradise. The view is spectacular. Maria introduced herself and told me where to eat in town which was just a 5 minute drive away. The room was on the second floor corner with a balcony that had a couple wicker... More

The house was a bit difficult to find at first since the road was not on our NAV, but once we found ourselves on N108, the name of the Casa is well signed at the road that leads up to it. The drive up the hill is steep, but the views at the top are rewarding. The house sits high... More

The place is absolutely amazing. Our room had a fantastic view, and so did the pool and the table we had breakfast at. We did not have enough time to go further away on the Douro, and Casa de Canilhas gave us a great idea of what life on the Douro looks like. The village up on the road has... More

When we arrives we didnt believe it was even possible that the place was even more perfect in real life than in pictures. Maria was very kind and told us everyrhing we needed to know about the area. We staied there for 2 nights, and left the room only in order to eat. Perfect stay, the best place we've been... More

This lovely Casa was our headquarters for touring the Duoro Valley. After navigating the narrow, twisting roads this is a beautiful property to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The property is well appointed and maintained. The Hosts are very attentive and have excellent staff. Breakfast was very yummy, particularly the home made pastry items!

My husband and I travel to Portugal at minimum once a year (he is Portuguese). Enjoying the wines of Portugal always brings us to the Alentejo and in this case the Douro. We brought friends with us in September 2012 so they could witness firsthand and through my eyes (not Portuguese) the many things I love about this enchanting country... More

We spent 2 nights at this Casa in Portugal, but after visiting multiple B&B's in Northern Portugal, this was definitely the best one! Lovely property, great hosts, helpful staff, fantastic breakfast, and a wonderful pool to relax in the afternoon sun with a postcard view made this place fantastic.

We spent 2 nights in Casa de Canilhas. We were greeted by the most charming hostess, who made us feel at home right away. Overlooking the fabulous Douro River, are room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was spectacular, and it seemed that whenever we needed anything, by the pool, in the house or on the veranda, there was always... More

We couldn't have had a better stay at this B&B. It was a charming hotel with unbelievable views. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful directing us around the area. The breakfast was great. We could only stay one night but wished we could have stayed more!

Gorgeous location with sweeping views of the Douro valley. Beautifully manicured outdoor spaces, lovely house built in 1994 built in traditional style and very tastefully decorated. Lovely pool. Our room was in an outbuilding just below the main house -- very secluded and with a small private patio area. Lage bathroom with a wonderful bathtub. We enjoyed sharing breakfast time... More
