Tucked away, off the beaten path, this small winery offers confortable, affordable rooms, good wine, and a charming village nearby. Jesus is gracious and very knowledgeable. You'll get wine tastings and a tour of the organic vineyard and wine making area. Breakfasts are included and served until relatively late. The nearby village of La Guardia is an ancient walled town... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in late October. As you've read, Jesus is a great host and welcomed us once he saw us pull into the parking lot. He immediately gave us a tour of the hotel, then opened some wine for one of several tastings we would have during our stay (one almost each day!). The next day,... More

A real pleasure to stay on a real Bodega as it prepared for the grape harvest. The Puelles family are very welcoming and did everything they could to make us feel at home. Rooms are very comfortable and beautifully finished. Breakfast excellent. Oh - and the wine is some of the best we tried in Rioja. Highly recommended - you... More

A great hotel/b&b to stay in the region of La Rioja. Family owned Bodegas Puelles is still run by the owners of the vineyard, has 6 bedrooms to choose from, all of them overlooking the vineyards of the estate. Fantastic location to access all the vineyards of the region and enjoy the best wine tourism. The hotel staff are brilliant,... More

Jesus Puelles and his family will make you feel like you are a treasured guest. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is excellent and the tour of the winery is interesting. Tiny little Abalos is not the easiest place to find, but makes a good base for touring the La Rioja wine region. We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay and would highly... More

If you are looking for a fantastic way to experience the wine country, this is it. Jesus, the owner and wine maker, is a wonderful host and went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. It started with his help over email in planning our time in the Riojas wine region with suggestions on wineries to visit,... More

If you want to stay in the heart of the La Rioja wine region in a working vineyard/winery, this is a great spot. Your host is the winemaker and his wine is excellent and available even when he is not! The rooms and beds are not large but the common living area is spacious and welcoming. There is a fully-equipped... More

You do need to be able to find it in the first place! Best to ask when you get to Abalos (hint: it's about a mile to the North of the main road and the best way to approach it is to take a little concrete road that goes off the main road at the extreme East end of the... More

My wife and I and two of our friends spent five nights at Hospederia de Vino, and we could not have been more pleased with our selection of this hotel. Abalos is the perfect base location (right in the middle) to visit the entire Rioja region, and it is close to La Guardia, San Vicente, Labastida, Briones, Brinas, and Haro.... More
