This hotel is currently closed and as far as I am aware, waiting for a buyer! It has in the past varied in quality over the years, depending on the owners. However, in my experience it has always been a good local. Alas, Canonbie is now wothout a watering hole!

We visited here on our return home On Sunday 2nd September 2012 We were greeted and served by very friendly, efficient staff. The menu was home cooked pub style varied with good specials and two Sunday roasts The food was beautifully presented and freshly cooked. I had gammon and my wife the roast beef, nice to see fresh vegetables rather... More

e did not stay the night, but trip advisor wouldn't let us write a review without putting in a date. We went for Sunday lunch on Fathers day, there were 5 adults and 1 child, the mamnagement were lovely, very welcoming, the meal was excellent, couldn't fault it. The Sunday Roast was great, price reasonable and the size of the... More

Stayed for two nights at Easter, and had a great time. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was awesome, huge portions! I can recommend the steak pie 100%! The room was comfortable and warm, and very quiet, which was wonderful. Local area is lovely too, plenty nice walks and loads to see, very old fashioned feel to the... More

Our small team would like to thank you for your review. Since taking over in October 2011 we have been struggling to get rid of the terrible reviews from the previous incumbents. Thank you again. More

I had been travelling back from down south, I was cold, wet and knackered the lovely warm fire and warm welcome soon had mee feeling at home. The food was fantastic, I was boring and had the fish and chips. The fish was huge and lots of chips and tasted great. The room was lovely, clean and warm. All the... More

Thank you for your review, however I do feel it was quite unfair. It was indeed getting cold, however none of the guests asked for the heating to be put on, in fact I remember having a joke with one of your party at how cold it is in Ireland, and the guest said how hardened they were to it.... After a tiring trip it was lovely to receive a genuinely warm welcome. Our rooms were very clean and likeable. We had a pleasant, relaxed evening and slept well before a hearty breakfast. Whilst not perhaps the most sophisticated this was exactly what was needed as an overnight stop on a long journey and we will certainly use it again.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at this cosy village inn. From the initial contact, when I booked the hotel to when we left we found the landlord and his wife to be most helpful and pleasant. Our bedroom was comfortable and clean. The bed was most comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious supper- my son recommends the mixed grill! Would definitely... More

I have stayed at this hotel before, mainly because of the price, location and I could take my dog. There is certainly a noticeable difference since the change in ownership, the new owners are always available to assist, so when you ask for something, chances are you are asking the owner and not the hired help, which made me feel...
