The streets are narrow but Caunes-Minervois is authentic. The hotel is well located right adjacent to the Mayor's office. There's a terrific restaurant across the street and a boulangerie (bakery) 50 yards (meters, for you purists) away. The facility is very comfortable with a warm lounge,a spacious breakfast room and a protected terrace. The village of Caunes is quiet, picturesque and centrally located for exploring the Minervois. And the best part was our host , a wealth of information and advice named Roy. We do not hesitate to recommend L'Ancienne Boulangerie and certainly intend to return ourselves.

I stayed a week while I was doing a course at the nearby Abbey. Very central, I was given a lovely comfortable prettily decorated room, friendly chats over breakfast, pretty terrace to sit out on... Excellent if slighly bizarre restaurant opposite. Helpful of Gareth and Roy to pick me up from the airport (NB 30 euros each way) Highly recommended.
