We made a reservation about a month before our trip. As the hotel was making a 40th anniversary promotion, we decided to pick a promotion package in which we only needed to pay 22,000 yen for a person to get a stay in a room with private onsen (of course, dinner and breakfast were also included). The hotel was absolutely... More

Hard to fault this amazingly sited hotel atop a canyon of native forest and an iconic river bend in a gorge. Top that with the funicular from reception down to the gorge floor onsens (a perfect 38 deg and suitably mineral filled) and wonderful tatami rooms with comfortable futons and this is a great stay option in Iya. The half... More

When we decided we were going to hire a car and drive to Iya Onsen for an overnight stay, we made the executive decision to ignore the "as cheap as possible" budget for accommodation and go well and truly to the other end of the scale for a night in supreme luxury. The room we booked at Hotel Iya Onsen... More

We stayed here as a couple in April this year for two nights and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. We were touring around Japan via train with the rail pass, and this was the only part of our trip where we wondered if we should have hired a car, and in hindsight we probably... More

Although it took a long trip to get here, it was certainly worth it! We received a free room upgrade and vouchers worth ¥1,000 to spend in the gift shop; visits to the onsen in the gorge via a funicular are free (which is superb); the kaiseki dinner in the room in the evening was one of the best I've... Very stylish hotel in a beautiful setting. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the hotel's suites. The room with tatami floors, comfortable beds and outside bath with a stunning panorama everywhere you look is a great mix between the traditional and the comfortably modern. The staff are incredibly attentive, helpful, yet discreet. The kaiseki dinner in... More

Sayed here with friends for one night on the 20th October and it was well worth the money. This was by far the most expensive place we stayed at during our 10 day Japan trip but it was definitely worth it. If you count the two meals included in the cost of your stay it is actually good value. The... More

I usually go for the cheapest room but since it was my first stay at an onsen, I splurged on the suite. It was amazing. Stylish decoration, fantastic massage chair and a private bath with a great view of the valley. I didn't see the regular rooms, so I can't speak for them but the suite is totally worth it.... More
