When compared to other hostels on the west coast, this hostel ranks on the top 5. There is nothing on which I could complain. Storage for skis and mountain bikes, huge fully-equipped kitchen ( with bins for your food!), big living room area with a lot of things to do, nice bars nearby, huge dorms with comfortable and stable beds.... This is a fun place to stay in a friendly little town with lots going on if you enjoy the great outdoors. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the hostel well equipped and spacious. Large comfortable common room with lots of space to lounge and eat. Kitchen is huge and very well equipped with a large commercial fridge and bins... More

Comfortable, cheap, and cosy accommodation with bike storage and tools for mountainbikers. The hostel has a massive kitchen and living room area for post-ride chilling, assuming you're not heading to the Waverley for a cheeky beer or two. In case you didn't already know, the riding around Cumberland is top drawer stuff, whether you like XC, DH or anything in... More

We were warmly welcomed by Caitlin, the new employee from Australia and she was very accommodating in showing us around. We are in our 60's and had a private room. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a great sleep. There were only 4 other guests so basically we had our own bathroom and it was very clean... More

My husband and I (both in our 50's) stayed here for a few nights in July 2012 and really loved it. The folks who checked us in we're sweet and helpful. The place is huge, the kitchen well stocked, there is even a pool table. We were able to rent a private room and were very comfortable. It is a... More

We had been camping for 2 weeks on Vancouver island and came here for a bit of comparative luxury. Really fantastic hostel, excellent value for a private room. Super clean, great facilities, very friendly service and lots of character. Cumberland itself is a real gem of place too. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

We had a group of 30 mountain bikers, who have been doing our June Ride for over 20 yrs. I only wish we could take this place with us wherever we go! Tons of room, very large kitchen & recreation area, good people to deal with. Ride right from the hostel, fantastic!

The staff at Riding Fool were over accommodating to the extraordinary needs and demands of our annual Joon Ride group of 30 mountain bikers. The lodging, culinary facilities, great common room and location to trail heads, entertainment, food, and drink were awesome.

This heritage building is in downtown Cumberland. The two hotels in town are nearby and play loud live music until late on Saturday nights. The common area is right next to the sleeping area so if your fellow hostel visitors like to stay up late and socialize and you are a light sleeper then you're out of luck. I didn't... More

We stayed in the riding fool in off season, at the end of September 2011 for 4 nights. we turned out to be the only ones there, but that didn't make too much difference as the staff were lovely, the couple who own the shop downstairs great to chat to and the place itself comfortable and cosy. The bike trails... More
