This was my first yoga holiday although I have been practising for a while. Ashiyana is quite relaxed and not too dogmatic, so I guess it's a good place to get started. It's a bit of a hassle that they don't accept credit cards and you have to pay everything upfront by bank transfer, i.e. the costs for the international... More

The only reason I am rating this joke of a “Yoga Retreat” a one is because zero is not an option. Their lack of customer service, inauthentic trainings, and loud accommodations were a living nightmare. I should have known my experience was going to be less than desirable when I booked my 4 week $3000 Yoga Teachers Training 6 months... More

We just stayed three nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Very relaxing and serene place. Since it was the end of season the beach huts were not available anymore (all wrapped up for the monsoon) and we got placed in an eco-lodge. Really nice and if we would come back I would prefer this eco lodge after seeing... More

I spent one week as a solo traveller at Ashiyana and had an amazing experience. The quality of the yoga teaching was really excellent, without exception. This is not the cheapest place to stay in India but given that your meals (which are delicious) and classes are all included, it really comes out at good value for money. I stayed... More

The Ashiyana is located in a lush tropical garden made of old palm trees, situated right next to the beautiful long and wide Mandrem beach. The Ashiyana contains three outdoor and one indoor yoga shalas, the two main outdoor shalas are equipped with mosquito nets and allow you to practice yoga with wonderful garden views, a refreshing light sea breeze... I spent one week at Ashiyana in February 2013. It was a wonderful experience.. The place is amazing, very calm and relaxing.. I did the standard yoga week (2 yoga drop-in classes per day, one 8-10am, the second at 4-6pm). You have 2 meals per day : the brunch at 11am and the dinner at 7pm. You dont get any... More

I have never written a review before, but feel compelled to write as my stay at Ashiyana was so amazing. There are so many wonderful things to write but I will concentrate on the more important. It is a haven. I went with an open mind not having done much yoga and came away after 10 days converted to yoga... More

Ashiyana is more than a yoga retreat. When crossing the bridge you step into a different world. You feel, see and sense spirituality in the air, in the trees, in the huts and houses, in the food, made with love and care, in the staff, most of who have been there for years. The place is amazing, a unique hidden... More

I fell in love with Ashiyana: a beautiful sanctuary, and for me nine days of exploring, relaxing and growing. Or as someone there put it 'letting go'. It is just perfect; not pretentious or superficial. Ashiyana belongs just there sitting by the river, in complete harmony with its surroundings and nature. Each time I crossed the footbridge I was compelled... More

My friend and I stayed here for five nights in early January. We stayed in a beach huts on the non-beach side which boasted a private bathroom (the beach side ones had a shared bathroom). The room was clean and comfortable, however on chilly nights we found ourselves shivering in the early morning as the windows contained no glass and... More
