Sights to see in central new york.
My hometown, Sherrill is the self proclaimed smallest city in New York state. Famous for ... well ... not much, Sherrill is a great place for families, and has tons of parks for kids!
If you feel the need to roll the dice or play the (electronic) slots, the Turning Stone is the place to go. Set in the middle of absolutely nowhere, this reservation casino has gotten huge over the years, with a great golf course and good entertainment.
Rabid fans go to the carrier dome to watch Syracuse basketball and football games. With no pro sports, the area really gets behind the team.
In the early part of the century, up until airling travel became prominent, sylvan beach was THE place to escape to for NYC folks. A few movies were shot there, and several celebraties spent the summer on the beach. Now, just a shell of it's former self.
Right off the thruway, the boxing hall of fame is in one of the weirdest places ever for a hall of fame. No real good reason to have it here. Odd. But hey, that's upstate NY!
The locals need something to keep them warm through the winter. Ahhh ... matt's brewing company.
