  • 1. SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld San Diego, San Diego, California

Sea World is great in the morning. Get there right when it opens. Make a reservation on the Sea World site for a late breakfast dining experience (they say these go fast, we made our reservation about 2 weeks before our trip). You get to sit by the dolphin training pool & watch whatever is going on at that time. The food is good, and you get seats right by the water. Its a nice way to add something special to your day. If you are a Southwest Airlines Frequent Flyer, show your card to get into Sea World with a 20% discount! While at Sea World make sure to do the touch tanks, its really fun to get to hold some of the creatures. Many of the attractions in this park dont look like much from the outside of the bldgs, or even from the signage - just walk in and be amazed. The park starts getting crowded about 1 or 2, so make sure you do the most popular things before that time.

  • 2. Balboa Park
    Balboa Park, San Diego, California

We left Sea World mid-day and drove over to Balboa Park area. There is more than enough here to keep you busy for days. We just enjoyed walking around and looking at the buildings, but did go into the Aerospace Museum. It was wonderful. They had many exhibits. The hands on activities were fun. The old planes they had were amazing to see.

  • 3. Gaslamp Quarter
    Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, California

A great area of San Diego, its an older area that is being renovated. There are TONS of clubs and fun restaurants to try. There are some stores and museums, too. If you can, make a reservation for dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants. The wait is long if you dont have a reservation. Please note that parking in the area is limited and expensive. We used a flat rate valet parking service, which was about $15 for the whole night. We ate at Dakota Grill, which had really good food & the service was very good, too. They had steaks, fish, chicken.. Most of the activity in the gaslamp area is on 4th & 5th avenue. Its neat to see all the old buildings given a new life. We went for dinner, then stayed until about 10pm walking around.
